Owner report 10401856 · 2011-05-14 (May 14, 2011)
BRAKE FLUID LINES RUSTED AWAY ON BOTH SIDES, DIRECTLY BEHIND THE FRONT WHEELS. DURING REPAIR, AT A LICENSED REPAIR SHOP, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE CHASSIS OF THE VEHICLE HAD, IN FACT, RUSTED COMPLETELY THROUGH WHERE THE BRAKE LINE CLAMPS WERE ATTACHED TO THE CHASSIS. THE RUSTING OF THE VEHICLE FRAME IS SO BAD THAT THE VEHICLE CANNOT BE SAFELY DRIVEN. I CONTACTED GM ABOUT THE PROBLEM. THEY ASSIGNED ME A SERVICE REQUEST NUMBER, #71-902016197 AND TOLD ME TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL GM DEALER AND HAVE THEM LOOK AT THE REPORTED DAMAGE. THE…

Owner report 10479667 · 2012-10-10 (October 10, 2012)
WHILE ATTEMPTING TO SLOW THE VEHICLE TO EXIT THE HIGHWAY, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND THERE WAS LIMITED BRAKING. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE SLOWED BY DOWN SHIFTING. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS OFF OF THE HIGHWAY, THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE MECHANICS FOUND THAT ONE OF THE STEEL BRAKE LINES HAD RUSTED AND RUPTURED CAUSING THE BRAKE FLUID TO LEAK AND THE REDUCTION IN BRAKING ABILITY. ALL OF THE STEEL BRAKE LINES ARE SEVERELY RUSTED AND NEED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO CONCERNS OF ADDITIONAL FAIL…

Owner report 10549434 · 2013-10-24 (October 24, 2013)
BRAKES FAILED AS BRAKE LINE CORROSION ALLOWED FLUID LEAK. THIS WAS FIRST OF MULTIPLE LINE FAILURES IN THE LAST THREE YEARS. THREE DIFFERENT FACTORY LINES FAILED THEN ONE TRANSMISSION LINE. THIS TRUCK IS NOT USED DURING WINTER AND WAS UNDER COATED MULTIPLE TIMES. NO OTHER PART ON THIS TRUCK IS CORRODED NEARLY AS MUCH AS EVERY STEEL LINE ON IT, INCLUDING THE GAS LINES( ALSO REPLACED JUST LAST YEAR) TRUCK RUNS AND DRIVES EXCELLENT EXCEPT FOR THIS CORROSION PROBLEM. *TR

THE TRUCK SHUT OFF NO POWER BRAKES, STEERING. THIS HAPPENED WHILE PULLING A TRAILER. THE GMC DEALER INFORMED ME THAT THE SHUT OFF WAS THE RESULT OF A PUMP MOUNTED DRIVER (PMD) FAILURE ON THE 6.5L DIESEL MOTOR. VERY UNSAFE SHOULD HAVE RESULTED IN A ACCIDENT. *TR

WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONSUMER TRIED TO RESTART IT, BUT WAS UNABLE TO DO SO. THE CONSUMER HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE ELECTRIC EJECTION PUMP, HOWEVER THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK NO MATTER WHAT SPEED THE VEHICLE WAS GOING, THE ENGINE WOULD DIE AS THE KEY WAS TURNED OFF. SOMETIMES THE VEHICLE RESTARTED IMMEDIATELY, BUT SOMETIMES IT WOULDN'T RESTART UNTIL IT WAS "WORKED WITH." THE ELECTRIC INJECTION PUMP WAS REPLACED FOR A THIRD TIME. TWO NEW ALTERNATORS HAD BEEN PLACE…

Owner report 10324870 · 2010-04-10 (April 10, 2010)
IN THE LAST WEEK OF OCTOBER, 2009, MY FATHER AND I WERE PULLING A BUMPER HITCH CAMPING TRAILER WHEN THE TRUCK BRAKES FAILED. WE WERE ABLE TO LIMP THE REST OF THE WAY HOME BY USING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND THE ELECTRIC ASSIST BRAKES ON THE CAMPER. WHEN WE HAD THE BRAKES INSPECTED, WE WERE TOLD THAT THE METAL BRAKE LINES ON THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE VEHICLE HAD CORRODED INSIDE THE FRAME, NEXT TO THE GAS TANK. THE BRAKE LINE WAS REPLACED AND NO FURTHER INCIDENT HAS ARISEN. *TR

Owner report 743776 · 2001-04-09 (April 9, 2001)
ENGINE CHECK LIGHT HAS COME ON AT LEAST 6 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. THE DEALER REPORTED AN ASSIGNED REASON FOR THE FAILURE EACH TIME. THEN ON THE LAST OCCURRECE THEY DID NOT EVEN TROUBLE-SHOOT THE FAILURE. INSTEAD THEY REPROGRAMMED THE PROM FOR THE ENGINE. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THIS MY FUEL ECONOMY WENT FOR 12-14 MPG TO 8-9 MPG, THE ENGINE IDLE IS ROUGH (SOMETIMES ALMOST STALLS) AND ON OCCASION THERE IS A FUEL SMELL. AFTER COMPLAINING ABOUT THESE ITEMS THE DEALER "CAN NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG" GMC HAS REFUSED ALL MY ATTEMPS TO HAVE A REGIONAL SUPPOR…
