Owner report 11431174 · 2021-08-31 (August 31, 2021)

The contact owns a 2022 Volkswagen Taos. The contact stated that shortly after accelerating from a stop light, the vehicle suddenly stalled and the lane assist disabled, tire pressure sensor warning light, and the brake warning lights were illuminated. The contact was able to coast into a nearby gas station where she turned off and restarted the vehicle and the vehicle regained proper function. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and c…

Owner report 11433429 · 2021-09-18 (September 18, 2021)

The vehicle drives well and the problems surface without any prior indication or warning. The PROBLEM: while driving the vehicle slows down to about 10-15 mph. when I try to press the gas pedal, the vehicle does not increase speed. In addition there is a loud sound coming from the engine. also, there is a grating/vibration as if one drives on a gravel road. The service light shows up in red, and the "+" sign next to "D" shows red: I use the "D" to drive and not the overdrive. The gear lever does not release as it is stuck. My wife and I feel ve…

Owner report 11428628 · 2021-08-11 (August 11, 2021)

I picked my VW Taos up yesterday 8/10 from the Dealership in New Hampshire. The car shut off and stalled several times. It also shuts off by itself without pushing the engine off button. It happens at every stop the vehicle makes. This car feels very unsafe to drive. The dealership is over an hour away from me as I am in Massachusetts. I have notified them about these issues and they told me they would get it in and have it looked at. When I put the vin number in to this site, a recall alert came up which I was not informed by the dealership ab…

Owner report 11431097 · 2021-08-30 (August 30, 2021)

Yesterday afternoon, while driving on I-55 in heavy Chicago Saturday traffic, my Taos 4Motion stalled out (mid-drive) in the middle lane of I-55, and I was nearly smashed into by several vehicles. My gas pedal didn't work, and yet my car appeared to be on. In an effort to find a way out of danger as fast as possible, I managed to get the car going again, only to have it stall out a second time (mid-drive) while trying to get onto a shoulder to safety. I was nearly smashed into again. Three hours after a VW roadside assistance tow truck got to …

Starting and stopping. Press on the peddle the car starts and then Boggs down you need to depress further on the peddle and then the vehicle jolts forward rapidly. Have been to two different dealerships. The OBD reader claims it bad gas. I buy mostly Shell gas. The one professional doesn’t think higher octane will have any effect. It an acceleration problem or transmission problem.

Owner report 11492682 · 2022-11-08 (November 8, 2022)

I purchased my VW TAOS on Nov 26, 2021, and since then I have experienced faulty issues 4 times. 2022 Jul twice, Sep once, and Nov once. When merged to the main road the car refuses to accelerate and gives strange sounds in transmission/engine area. The first 2 times I had the issue with loss of power and significant lag in acceleration I could see the "start/stop error" message in the dashboard, and I had to pull over to the side of the road. I drove in the parking lot nearby for few minutes and continued driving when the engine seemed OK, but…

Owner report 11468037 · 2022-06-07 (June 7, 2022)

Engine electrical issue with knock sensor, dealer replaced only to find out they now need to install an engine electrical harness complete. Engine warning light comes on and states max engine rpm's limited to 4000, while doing so engine power is cut resulting in major loss of acceleration, while engine light is on safety system does not work. Infotainment system sometimes does not load for several minuets as well as the rear view camera not functioning while loading.

Owner report 11487518 · 2022-10-02 (October 2, 2022)

Vehicle was involved in a front end collision with left front impact. Damage spread across front of vehicle. Air bags did not deploy. Vehicle has been having electrical issues recently. Head unit will do “hard reset” while driving disabling all safety features. Car also will alert fob not present after vehicle has been started and is in motion. Other times fob will unlock doors but will get alert message that fob is not found in vehicle. Alerted dealership and manufacture but never received a response other than the dealership saying “no…

Owner report 11455362 · 2022-03-05 (March 5, 2022)

This car has a dangerous delayed acceleration problem. While making a left hand turn the car DID NOT apply the correct amount of acceleration proportional to the pressure applied to the gas pedal. It got to the point where I was basically flooring the gas pedal AND THE CAR DID NOT CHANGE SPEED! Because the car would not accelerate I almost got hit. After the turn a delayed surge of speed made the car jerk/lunge in an dangerous manner. If I didn't have a firm grip on the steering wheel I would have lost control of the car. I'm terrified drivi…

Owner report 11658580 · 2025-05-02 (May 2, 2025)

Car dies/stalls while in drive when adaptive is engaged. Entertainment / navigation system has quit working despite multiple times I’ve reset. Acceleration is dangerous at times and accelerates too quickly. Also seems to be sluggish due to fuel injector issues requiring me to press gas pedal harder to maintain speed. Windows don’t always respond to button and seem to stall. Check engine light keeps coming on despite being cleared . I only have 28,000 miles.
