I WAS MERGING ONTO A HIGHWAY LEANED INTO THE CURVE RUNNING ABOUT 45 MPH WHEN THE ENGINE POPPED AND DIED. WHEN THIS HAPPENED IT LOCKED UP THE REAR TIRE CAUSING THE BACK END OF THE MOTORCYCLE TO SKID AROUND AND WHEN IT CAUGHT TRACTION IT FLIPPED THE BIKE IN THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE WAY I WAS LEANING LAUNCHING ME INTO THE ROAD. I WAS APPLYING THROTTLE GENTLY WHEN THIS OCCURRED AND THE RPM'S WERE AROUND 3000 AT THE TIME. AND I WAS NOT SHIFTING GEARS AT THE TIME. AFTER A COUPLE OF ATTEMPTS I WAS ABLE TO GET THE ENGINE STARTED AGAIN BUT THE BIKE MA…

Owner report 10749531 · 2015-08-18 (August 18, 2015)
I WAS TRAVELLING DOWN THE ROAD WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH. AS I WAS APPROACHING THE INTERSECTION WHERE I NEEDED TO TURN, I PULLED ON THE FRONT BRAKE LEVER TO DISENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL, BUT THE CRUISE DID NOT DEACTIVATE. I PULLED ON THE FRONT BRAKE LEVER SEVERAL TIMES AND THE ELECTRONIC CRUISE CONTROL WOULD STILL NOT DISENGAGE. I ENDED UP PRESSING THE CRUISE CONTROL "OFF" BUTTON AND IT FINALLY DISENGAGED. IMMEDIATELY AFTER TAKING THE TURN I SET THE CRUISE AT A LOWER SPEED AND ATTEMPTED TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE. …

AS I WAS CONDUCTING A PRE-RIDE CHECK, I TURNED THE ENGINE ON, AND WITHIN A FEW SECONDS, IT SHUT OFF BY ITSELF. THIS REPEATED A COUPLE OF MORE TIMES, AND THEN THE ENGINE WOULD NOT START. AFTER ANOTHER COUPLE OF ATTEMPTS, EVEN THE LIGHTS AND ALL THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS SHUT OFF WITH NO RESPONSE. THE BIKE HAD COMPLETELY DIED. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA MOTORCYCLE VICTORY DEALER, AND THEY DIAGNOSED THAT THE STARTER SOLENOID HAD MELTED, AND THE CIRCUIT BREAKER HAD BLOWN OUT. IT'S FORTUNATE THAT THIS HAPPENED AT HOME DURING A PRE…
