Electrical system spontaneously caught fire. Had this happened while on the road or with people inside the trailer, it would have lead to serious injury or death. The issue has been confirmed by the manufacturer and they are refusing to take action or honor the warrantee. The RV has been inspected by the manufacturer and is the in process of being inspected by insurance. There was no warning or symptoms prior to smoke pouring from various compartments of the RV.

2021 GRAND DESIGN SOLITUDE RV. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VARIOUS ISSUES WITH RV. THE CONSUMER STATED THE REGULATOR MALFUNTIONED CAUSING A SMELL OF PROPANE. THERE WAS LEAKAGE THAT PREVENTED THE USE OF APPLIANCES THAT REQUIRED PROPANE. WATER SEEPED FROM UNDER THE DRIVER'S SIDE KITCHEN SLIDE OUT. THE BLINDS HAD WATER MARKS. REFRIGERATOR DISPLAYED CODE DR DUE TO A FAULTY DOOR SWITCH. BEDROOM CLOSET DOOR WAS DIFFICULT TO OPEN AND CLOSE. WALL PANELING SEPARATED. PANTRY DRAWER WOULD NOT OPEN PROPERLY DUE TO BEARING FALLEN OUT. THE RECLINING CHAI…

I observed a small protrusion under the upper deck of our fifth wheel when we left Texas heading to Florida. When we arrived in Florida the protrusion was much worse. After I removed a plastic panel I discovered the frame was broken where the wall has been traveling up and down and broken the frame supporting the wall. If I didn’t notice this so soon it would cause the wall supports(lower frame members) to completely break and to possibly separate from the trailer while traveling down the road endangering everyone’s lives as well as my family…

Serious frame failure issues. Upper deck of trailer is separating from cross members to lower frame. Pin box has signs of excesive flexing, when hooking to truck, it sinks back into the frame well over 1.5”. Creaking noises coming from floor in front broom area as well as bathroom. Continues to get worse

On multiple occasions during travel, We have had cargo doors and the main entry door open when going down the road. We have been fortunate that we have noticed the door flying open, to where we can quickly stop before losing any cargo. Because these are cargo doors, we carry cargo in these compartments. When the door flies open, there is a huge risk of cargo flying out of the vehicle and creating a hazard for oncoming motorists (flying through the air or upon the roadway). Frame failure on the front of my 5th wheel. It was “fixed” once at Grand Design but now it’s back after less than 500 miles.

I noticed wall movement against installed cabinets in the front of the RV. Movement was indicated by the shaving of the wall material leaving "sawdust" all over the front RV bedroom area. Upon inspection half of the required lag bolts were installed and those installed were too small for the pre-drill holes. Frame inspection by a dealer indentified split side wall support rails on both sides of the RV. My inspection also found bent outriggers which has allowed both side of the RV floor to sag down on the outside of the camper.

Reported: 2020-08-28 (August 28, 2020)
Grand Design RV, LLC (Grand Design) is recalling certain 2017-2021 Solitude recreational trailers. The liquid propane (LP) supply line that runs through the exterior lower refrigerator compartment may contact the burner tube of the refrigerator, possibly damaging the line and causing an LP gas leak.
Consequence: An LP gas leak increases the risk of a fire.
Remedy: Grand Design will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the LP supply line for damage, replacing it as necessary. All lines in the vicinity of the burner tube will be wrapped in a thermal foil heat barrier material, then secured away from the burner tube of the refrigerator with additional P-clamps, free of charge. The recall began September 17, 2020. Owners may contact Grand Design customer service at 1-574-825-9679. Grand Design's number for this recall is 910021.

Grand Design RV, LLC (Grand Design) is recalling certain 2013-2021 Momentum, Solitude, and Reflection recreational vehicles. A 110-volt wire in the refrigerator cabinet may be improperly secured, which could result in the wire contacting the refrigerator cooling unit, causing an electrical arc.
Consequence: An electrical arc increases the risk of a fire.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace any damaged wiring, and properly secure the wires, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on February 21, 2022. Owners may contact Grand Design customer service at 1-574-825-9679. Grand Design's number for this recall is 910026.

Reported: 2023-07-17 (July 17, 2023)
Grand Design RV, LLC. (Grand Design) is recalling certain 2021-2024 Momentum and Solitude fifth wheels, equipped with certain CURT 7000 and 8000 lb axles. The U-bolts may have been improperly tightened, which can cause the axle to move out of position.
Consequence: An axle that moves out of position can cause a loss of vehicle control and increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and tighten the U-bolts, as necessary. Any damaged components will be replaced. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 16, 2023. Owners may contact Grand Design customer service at 1-574-825-9679. Grand Design's number for this recall is 910039.

Reported: 2025-02-07 (February 7, 2025)
Grand Design RV, LLC (Grand Design) is recalling certain 2019-2024 Grand Design Solitude fifth wheel trailers. The step tread joints may be unsupported, causing the tread to break.
Consequence: A broken step increases the risk of injury.
Remedy: Dealers will reinforce the current step tread with a metal bracket, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 22, 2025. Owners may contact Grand Design customer service at 1-574-825-9679. Grand Design's number for this recall is 910048.
