On Monday May 30th, 2022my husband Mike was sitting in the recliner and heard a couple of “pops” and then he heard another louder “pop.” He got up and walked over to the glass sliding door and saw our 2020 Grand Design Solitude 310G camper was on fire. He turned to me and hollered for me to call 911 and that the camper was on fire. The contact owns a 2020 Grand Design Solitude RV. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, both the rear and the front entry doors of the trailer would unlatch. The contact also stated that the failure occurred while driving at lower speeds on bumpy road surfaces. The contact stated that the front entry door would unlatch but would not open all the way due to a safety bar that was designed to keep the door closed. Factory weld failures in the walls of the front of the 5th wheel. This is a manufacturer wide issue that has been well documented. This problem will only continue to get worse as time goes on and become a safety hazard, yet Grand Design refuses to acknowledge the issue.

There appears to be massive frame flex and/or failure my unit interior stairs have been scrapping on walls as well as large hutch, have suffered roof separation at cap, suspension failures with broken leave springs

2020 Grand Design 390 RK Noticed trim molding under bedroom area of 5th wheel rv had dropped from original position, on both sides of the trailer, in approximately same location. Took to a Grand Design dealer who inspected unit and stated there was a frame flex issue. After two weeks of the unit being at the dealership, Grand Design decided to send a factory technician to examine the rv and its issue. The rv has full body paint which has caused concern to remove the front cap and damage the paint scheme for inspection. Awaiting result of tech's…

1. Frame flex caused damage behind the pin box and under the drivers side bedroom slide schwinteck system. The slide motors came derailed causing the slide to become non-secured. There was a possibility of the slide opening while the Rv was being pulled on the road. Frame components required factory technician to weld supports under the slide and behind the pin box. 2. Two days after frame repairs a Rear leaf spring broke approximately 3 inches from bolt attaching to frame. This caused the drivers rear wheel to slide within one inch of the fro…

Latched and locked baggage storage doors pop open while in transit exposing content to falling out. Both passenger and driver sides have exhibited this behavior. It did it on the first trip after purchase, and was addressed by dealer but continued to occur. Was again checked by manufacturer two years later, latches adjusted, continued to occur. I ended up using packing tape on the doors to help secure. The main entry door is coming unlatched while driving down the highway. This condition has only worsened with time. With the latches in the locked condition, after stopping the main latch on the door has unfastened (not unlocked). The only part keeping the door closed is the deadbolt and the entry handrail. If this door was to fully open, the entry steps would then deploy and hit the highway which could result in the steps being torn away from the RV and placed into the path of any vehicle(s) that may be traveling beside/behind me. Reported: 2020-08-28 (August 28, 2020)
Grand Design RV, LLC (Grand Design) is recalling certain 2017-2021 Solitude recreational trailers. The liquid propane (LP) supply line that runs through the exterior lower refrigerator compartment may contact the burner tube of the refrigerator, possibly damaging the line and causing an LP gas leak.
Consequence: An LP gas leak increases the risk of a fire.
Remedy: Grand Design will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the LP supply line for damage, replacing it as necessary. All lines in the vicinity of the burner tube will be wrapped in a thermal foil heat barrier material, then secured away from the burner tube of the refrigerator with additional P-clamps, free of charge. The recall began September 17, 2020. Owners may contact Grand Design customer service at 1-574-825-9679. Grand Design's number for this recall is 910021.

Reported: 2022-01-28 (January 28, 2022)
Grand Design RV, LLC (Grand Design) is recalling certain 2013-2021 Momentum, Solitude, and Reflection recreational vehicles. A 110-volt wire in the refrigerator cabinet may be improperly secured, which could result in the wire contacting the refrigerator cooling unit, causing an electrical arc.
Consequence: An electrical arc increases the risk of a fire.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace any damaged wiring, and properly secure the wires, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on February 21, 2022. Owners may contact Grand Design customer service at 1-574-825-9679. Grand Design's number for this recall is 910026.

Reported: 2025-02-07 (February 7, 2025)
Grand Design RV, LLC (Grand Design) is recalling certain 2019-2024 Grand Design Solitude fifth wheel trailers. The step tread joints may be unsupported, causing the tread to break.
Consequence: A broken step increases the risk of injury.
Remedy: Dealers will reinforce the current step tread with a metal bracket, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 22, 2025. Owners may contact Grand Design customer service at 1-574-825-9679. Grand Design's number for this recall is 910048.
