I just had my rv at the dealership in December of 2022 for repairs and maintenance on the rv including the suspension system. Within 300 miles the shackle bolt broke twisting the spring and then shearing off the wheel/rim/tire sending it flying down the highway. The rotor dragged on the roadway until I could stop resulting in damage to the rotor and brake line. I have a five year warranty on the suspension, however Grand design and Dexter axle refused the warranty blaming me for non maintenance and or overtorquing the shackle bolts. With a Face…

All four brakes burned up and failed. The landing gear fell out of the assemblies. The brakes were metal on metal and heated up so much the turned the drums red. This fifth wheel is only 6 months old and has had numerous problems not limited to the brakes and landing gear.

While towing on I-75 at 65 MPH, the driver's side front storage doors came open. These doors had been shut, locked, and checked before departing. They were secured again and remained closed at a lower speed. Examination revealed two design flaws. First, they are side-opening overlapping doors. With an overlapping (rearward) door facing forward, this allows the slipstream to enter the gap putting strain on the two retaining locks. 1 April about 1530 we had an electrically generated "thermal event" in the generator compartment of the RV. We were not traveling, the RV was set up in the dedicated site on our property and had not been moved in 3+ months. The fire could not have been caused by any "outside influence" as no one had been in that compartment for 3+ months and there is no generator in that compartment. I have been experiencing floor squeaking for more than a year now. It's in the front of the fifth wheel in what is the bedroom. Extending into the hallway, and bathroom. I tried to contact grand design and was told it was ok and to add wood shims into the framing under the bedroom flooring. This only help minimally for a couple of weeks. Then the loudness and softness of the flooring has gotten worse. The outside and inside body parts started to separate. Frame failed. Yes it is available to be inspected upon request 5th wheel could have broken free from tow vehicle while traveling down the highway. . Problem was confirmed by the manufacturer, we were told to bring it in to the manufacturer service center. They confirmed the frame had failed. Grand Design RV, LLC (Grand Design) is recalling certain 2022 Grand Design Imagine, Reflection, Momentum, Solitude and Transcend travel trailers. The quick disconnect fittings in the LP gas system may be cracked, causing a gas leak.
Consequence: A gas leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the quick disconnect fittings, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 30, 2022. Owners may contact Grand Design customer service at 1-574-825-9679. Grand Design's number for this recall is 910029.

Grand Design RV, LLC (Grand Design) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Momentum, Solitude, Imagine, Reflection, and Transcend travel trailers. The electric retractable awning has a welded seam on the fabric that may separate, potentially allowing the awning to drop beyond normal operation.
Consequence: An awning that drops or extends beyond normal operation can increase the risk of injury.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and repair, or replace the awning, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed by August 22, 2022. Owners may contact Grand Design customer service at 1-574-825-9679. Grand Design's number for this recall is 910031.

Grand Design RV, LLC. (Grand Design) is recalling certain 2021-2024 Momentum and Solitude fifth wheels, equipped with certain CURT 7000 and 8000 lb axles. The U-bolts may have been improperly tightened, which can cause the axle to move out of position.
Consequence: An axle that moves out of position can cause a loss of vehicle control and increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and tighten the U-bolts, as necessary. Any damaged components will be replaced. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 16, 2023. Owners may contact Grand Design customer service at 1-574-825-9679. Grand Design's number for this recall is 910039.

Grand Design RV, LLC (Grand Design) is recalling certain 2019-2024 Grand Design Solitude fifth wheel trailers. The step tread joints may be unsupported, causing the tread to break.
Consequence: A broken step increases the risk of injury.

Grand Design RV, LLC (Grand Design) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Solitude and 2023 Momentum fifth wheels trailers. Loose or missing fasteners on the refrigerator cooling unit can allow excessive movement of the unit, possibly causing the propane line to crack and leak.
Consequence: A propane leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect the refrigerator, and repair or replace it as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 23, 2025. Grand Design RV, LLC (Grand Design) is recalling certain 2021-2024 Momentum and 2022-2024 Solitude Fifth Wheel trailers. The U-bolt may become loose due to inadequate preload and preload losses, causing the axle to move out of position.
Consequence: An axle that moves out of position can cause a loss of vehicle control and increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the axle attachment components, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 15, 2026. Owners may contact Grand Design customer service at 1-574-825-9679.
