TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1997 COUNTRY COACH MAGNA RV. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING WAS POWERING OFF A HYDRAULIC PUMP, WHICH IS DRIVEN THROUGH A POWER TAKEOFF CASE IN THE TRANSMISSION. THE FAILURE WAS NOTICED WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH. THE SPLINES FROM THE PUMP TO THE POWER TAKEOFF WERE DETERIORATED TO THE POINT THAT THE SPLINES SHEARED. AS A RESULT, THE PUMP NO LONGER TURNED OR PRODUCED ANY FLUID PRESSURE, CAUSING THE POWER STEERING TO BECOME INOPERABLE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 COUNTRY COACH MAGNA. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 08V484000 (STEERING:HYDRAULIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM) ON SEPTEMBER 30,2008. THE NOTICE STATED THAT THE PARTS WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL MID-NOVEMBER. HE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS FOR THE RECALL REPAIR WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT IS AWARE OF THE SAFETY DEFECT. THERE HAD BEEN NO FAILURE TO DATE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 13,000.

WHILE DRIVING THROUGH GULFPORT, THE MOTORHOME EXPERIENCED A ELECTRICAL POWER FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT WHEN THE COACH STRAINED A COMPLETE CHASSIS ELECTRICAL POWER FAILURE. ALL THE ELECTRICAL POWER FOR THE LIGHTS AND THE RESTARTING OF THE ENGINE, THE STEP TO THE EXIT DOOR HAD BECOME INOPERATIVE, AND THE CONSUMER AND PASSENGER WERE STUCK IN THE VEHICLE.
