The advanced driver assistance systems , specifically lane departure and emergency steering control system engaged with out warning and caused forced automated steering control. The car swerved rapidly right and left in the lane causing violent body roll and loss of control of the vehicle. Attempts to manually control the steering only made the issue worse . Lane keep assist is not able to detect curves and bend, and it tries to pull on the opposite lane instead keep it in the center of the lane. It is hard to override the steering input.

The contact called on behalf of a client who owned a 2024 Vinfast VF8 Eco. The contact stated that the client was driving on a neighborhood street at 30 MPH, approaching an intersection, and attempting to stop, the brake pedal was depressed however the vehicle failed to come to a stop. As a result, the vehicle crashed into another vehicle that was stopped in front. There was no property damage. The air bags deployed. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. It was unknown if any warning lights illuminated. A police report was not filed…

One month into the lease, car had a coolant failure. The windshield defog is not working. Unable to heat windshield, so can’t safely drive car in the morning and night. Car went into a limp mode. The car is less of responsive to speed changes.

The contact owns a 2024 Vinfast VF8. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the Lane Assist feature constantly jerked the vehicle back to the center of the lane. The contact stated that the safety feature was very sensitive and was active upon the slightest drift. The contact was able to manually turn off the feature upon start of the vehicle; however, the contact stated that the feature had become unable to access. Vehicle did not slow down when in assistant driving mode. The vehicle was coming up on an intersection with a stoplight with two cars ahead of it. I had to apply breaks manually with the failure of the system slowing down fast enough. When I manually applied the brakes I pressed them hard after disengaging the driving assistant the car did not send any notifications following disengagement. While driving and starting to do a turn if you get to close to the line the car will jerk the steering wheel in the direction you are turning and there has been a multiple times it's almost put my car into a concrete wall. It has also jerk the wheel hard enough that its caused me to go out of my lane and almost crash into other cars on turns. I would say it has happen at least 30 times since taking ownership November 11, 2024

24V369000 · Air Bags

Reported: 2024-05-24 (May 24, 2024)

VinFast Auto, LLC (VinFast) is recalling certain 2022-2024 VF8 vehicles. Inactive ignitors may have been installed in the air bags.

Consequence: Inactive ignitors can prevent the air bags from deploying, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.

Remedy: VinFast will replace the air bags, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 21, 2024. Owners may contact VinFast customer service at 1-833-503-0600. VinFast's number for this recall is VPAC-291.

24V933000 · Air Bags

Reported: 2024-12-17 (December 17, 2024)

VinFast Auto, LLC (VinFast) is recalling certain 2023-2025 VF8 vehicles. The center air bag mounted in the driver's seat may deploy improperly during a side impact crash and strike the driver's arm.

Consequence: An air bag that strikes the driver increases the risk of injury.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the center air bag, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 23, 2025. Owners may contact VinFast customer service at 1-833-503-0600.

25V559000 · Lane Departure: Lane Keep: Automatic Steering

Reported: 2025-08-28 (August 28, 2025)

VinFast Auto, LLC (VinFast) is recalling certain 2023-2025 VF8 vehicles. The Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) may activate during wide turns, causing unexpected steering wheel movements that are difficult for the driver to override.

Consequence: A steering wheel that moves unexpectedly may increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: VinFast will update the ADAS software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 27, 2025. Owners may contact VinFast customer service at 1-833-503-0600.
