First time was end of May and the car went into park while driving down the road and stayed stuck in park. Could not change gears. Eventually the entire car shut down and even hazard lights did not work. Second time I was parked at my office and when I got back to my car, it again would not shift out of park. It would not move into any gear.

When in heavy fog, rain, direct light to cameras or sensor the safety features become unavailable. As soon as any of the above goes away they come back. This in my opinion becomes more of a risk driving these vehicles if the safety systems do not function properly.

Major Issues: Vehicle unresponsiveness: Twice in 4 days, the car was unresponsive, requiring a family member to stay in rain and cold weather (very dangerous) and wait for the car to restart(extremely dangerous). Unintended rolling: Once, the car started rolling back when parked on a slight incline, requiring me to activate creep mode. I was driving on the highway 87 California from the south to the north. After I changed to the furthest left lane and stay within the lane completely. I started to turn on ADAS system, as I was adjusting the desired speed, I felt the car was speeding up too much to reach my speed set up, so I decided to step on the brake to slow down the car. Front collision sensors and lane keeping sensor do not work in direct sunlight. For 2 hours in the morning and two hours at dusk. Sensors are behind rear view mirror and they do not work when sun is at eye level.

The contact owned a 2023 VINFAST VF 8. The contact stated that while driving at unknown speeds, the steering wheel automatically maneuvered to the right direction, however, the contact was able to regain control of the steering wheel and maneuvered into the correct lane. The contact stated that the failure recurred where the lane assist was turned on by default and it would automatically move the steering wheel. 23V355000 · Electrical System: Instrument Cluster/Panel
Reported: 2023-05-18 (May 18, 2023)
VinFast Auto, LLC (VinFast) is recalling certain 2023 VF8 vehicles. A software error may cause the multifunction head unit (MHU) display to go blank. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 101, "Control and Displays."
Consequence: A blank MHU display will not show critical safety information, such as the speedometer or warning lights, which may increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy: VinFast will update the software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 1, 2023. Owners may contact VinFast customer service at 1-833-503-0600. VinFast's number for this recall is VPAC-74.

Reported: 2024-05-24 (May 24, 2024)
VinFast Auto, LLC (VinFast) is recalling certain 2022-2024 VF8 vehicles. Inactive ignitors may have been installed in the air bags.
Consequence: Inactive ignitors can prevent the air bags from deploying, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.
Remedy: VinFast will replace the air bags, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 21, 2024. Owners may contact VinFast customer service at 1-833-503-0600. VinFast's number for this recall is VPAC-291.

Reported: 2024-12-17 (December 17, 2024)
VinFast Auto, LLC (VinFast) is recalling certain 2023-2025 VF8 vehicles. The center air bag mounted in the driver's seat may deploy improperly during a side impact crash and strike the driver's arm.
Consequence: An air bag that strikes the driver increases the risk of injury.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the center air bag, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 23, 2025. Owners may contact VinFast customer service at 1-833-503-0600.

Reported: 2025-08-28 (August 28, 2025)
VinFast Auto, LLC (VinFast) is recalling certain 2023-2025 VF8 vehicles. The Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) may activate during wide turns, causing unexpected steering wheel movements that are difficult for the driver to override.
Consequence: A steering wheel that moves unexpectedly may increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy: VinFast will update the ADAS software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 27, 2025. Owners may contact VinFast customer service at 1-833-503-0600.
