I RENTED BOOM-LIFT TRAILER, ONE PIECE UNIT, 20 MILES UP THE HILL ON TOLLHOUSE ROAD, THE RIGHT TIRE ROLLED OFF THE BEAD IN A LT CURVE, THE TRAILER FLIPPED ON IT'S SIDE AND WENT OVER THE EMBANKMENT, DRAGGING MY REAR TIRE TO THE PRECIPUS. IT COST ME $740.00 TO PULL IT ONTO THE ROAD AND FLATBED IT TO THE RENTAL SITE. THE CHP INVESTIGATED AND ISSUED A REPORT, BLAMING THE UNDER-RATED TIRES AS THE CAUSE, AND RELIEVING ME OF ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR CAUSING THE ACCIDENT. THE RENTAL COMPANY HAS DONE NOTHING TO REPAIR THE TRAILER, AND IS STILL RENTING IT'S…

05V499000 · Tires:Temporary/Emergency Spare Tire

Reported: 2005-11-02 (November 2, 2005)

ON CERTAIN TRAVEL TRAILERS, THE SPARE TIRE CARRIER BOLT MAY BREAK WHILE TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD.

Consequence: THIS CONDITION, IF NOT ADDRESSED, COULD RESULT IN A CRASH, INJURY OR DEATH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE SPARE TIRE CARRIER FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON NOVEMBER 28, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT JAYCO AT 1-800-283-8267.
