I RENTED BOOM-LIFT TRAILER, ONE PIECE UNIT, 20 MILES UP THE HILL ON TOLLHOUSE ROAD, THE RIGHT TIRE ROLLED OFF THE BEAD IN A LT CURVE, THE TRAILER FLIPPED ON IT'S SIDE AND WENT OVER THE EMBANKMENT, DRAGGING MY REAR TIRE TO THE PRECIPUS. IT COST ME $740.00 TO PULL IT ONTO THE ROAD AND FLATBED IT TO THE RENTAL SITE. THE CHP INVESTIGATED AND ISSUED A REPORT, BLAMING THE UNDER-RATED TIRES AS THE CAUSE, AND RELIEVING ME OF ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR CAUSING THE ACCIDENT. Reported: 2005-11-02 (November 2, 2005)
ON CERTAIN TRAVEL TRAILERS, THE SPARE TIRE CARRIER BOLT MAY BREAK WHILE TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD.
Consequence: THIS CONDITION, IF NOT ADDRESSED, COULD RESULT IN A CRASH, INJURY OR DEATH.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE SPARE TIRE CARRIER FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON NOVEMBER 28, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT JAYCO AT 1-800-283-8267.
