When using remote start (cold mornings here) the truck will run for 15 minutes. Both inside and outside the vehicle I smell what seems like plastic burning. The last time it happened I looked under the hood while it was dark out and what appears to be a catalytic converter on the back side of the motor was glowing red hot. There are high voltage lines that run within inches of this (among other things) and I am concerned there is a fire risk.

When idling in the cold, the engine runs rich. Them dumps excessive fuel in the catalytic converter causing it to become red hot, followed by a nauseous smell.

Engine surging while idling. The catalytic converter will get red hot. Also a rattling noise that sounds like rocks near the driver side wheel well in side the engine bay. When using the auto brake system at a stop light when cold you can feel the engine surge and feels like the brake is going to let loose.

My wife was t-boned in the passenger door. No airbags deployed nor did the seat belts lock up. I got a notification saying "the restraints control module has indicated the occupant classification system is present but not configured." The side curtain airbags did not deploy causing my wife and my 9 year old son to hit their heads on their windows.

Some 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrids have a faulty seal and leak oil onto transmission and clutch. I was accelerating on the HWY when engine light came on (solid). Noticed it needed more time and effort to accelerate. When parked and ran idle vehicle would suddenly jump- the rpm would shoot up sporadically for several minutes. There were no prior symbols or symptoms to this issue, and the vehicle is new. It happened exactly at 128 miles. Issue was apparent less than 12hrs of ownership. The vehicle switched to Neutral from Drive as the driver made a right turn at low speed, the weather was a little wet and rainy and about 68 degree outside.

I am concerned about the ability of the windshield to protect drivers from road hazards. It appears that almost every stone that is propelled by other vehicles cause a star chip on the windshield and then proceeds to crack. I am afraid this will weaken the windshield and a larger projectile may not be stopped. I was informed that this vehicle has a special windshield to reduce noise. With cost cost of recalibrating the safety systems, no one can afford to replace the windshield evert 10000 miles.

25V881000 · Power Train:Automatic Transmission:Control Module (Tcm/Pcm/Tecm)
Reported: 2025-12-18 (December 18, 2025)
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2022-2024 Maverick Hybrid and 2020 Escape Hybrid vehicles. The Hybrid Powertrain Control Module (HPCM) software may cause the vehicle to shift into neutral unexpectedly, causing a loss of drive power.
Consequence: A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will update the HPCM software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 12, 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 24S33. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning January 15, 2026. This is an expansion of Recalls 24V330 (24S33) and 25V133 (25S16).
