Yesterday I parked my car and about 45 minutes later when I returned my trunk was open. This makes a few times now where I have parked my car and left, then when I returned my trunk was open. The first couple of times I dismissed it because the trunk was only open slightly. In one of the early instances I was standing there when the trunk opened by itself and thought it was because I hadn't closed it all the way. But yesterday the trunk was open halfway with the taillight flashing bringing further attention to it. There were no error messa…

Owner report 11499349 · 2022-12-29 (December 29, 2022)

While driving to work on I35 the a red message popped up on the dash saying "Stop Safely Now" and the engine/hybrid motor instantly completely died. Steering and breaking were almost impossible because I am not a strong person and I was nearly rear ended several times. I had no chance to get to the shoulder and was blocking the lane in the middle of traffic till I was able to get someone to tow it to a side street. Completely unacceptable and very dangerous for the car to die completely like this.

Recall history

1 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

19V099000 · Hybrid Propulsion System

Reported: 2019-02-15 (February 15, 2019)

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2019 Fusion Energi Hybrid models. The affected vehicles may not adequately protect against direct and indirect contact of high voltage sources during normal operation. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 305, "Electric-Powered Vehicles: Electrolyte spillage and electrical shock protection."

Consequence: Potential contact with high voltage sources increases the risk of injury.

Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will install a Bus Electrical Center (BEC) cover over the high voltage fuses, free of charge. The recall began April 2, 2019. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19C05.
