TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1998 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO SHIFT TO DRIVE POSITION FROM THE PARK POSITION, THE GEAR SHIFT BECAME INOPERABLE AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED CONSTANTLY. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE GEAR SHIFT BEGAN TO FUNCTION AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION SENSORS FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. OK'D REPAIR BUT CANNOT BE DONE BECAUSE NO FUEL TANKS AVAILABLE. DEALER HAS TRUCK, TO TOW IT TO A PRIVATE REPAIR SHOP WOULD BE AN ADDED EXPENSE WITH NO GUARANTEE OF REPAIR. VEHICLE ENDED UP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. *AK THE CONSUMER INDICATED THAT NOTHNG WAS HIT TO CAUSE THE TIRE TO BLOWOUT. THE TIRE PRESSURE WAS CHECKED BEFORE THE TRIP. IT WAS ALSO CHECK 30 MIN PRIOR TO THE BLOWOUT BECUASE THE CONSUMER FELT A VIBRATION N THE STEERING WHEEL. BOTH TIMES THE PRESSURE WAS NORMAL. *NM

DRIVING DOWN ROAD INSTRUMENT PANEL, ODOMETER, SPEEDOMETER WORK INTERMENTELY. BATTERY IS BEING OVERCHARGED. HAVE REPLACED 2 BATTERIES AND 1 ALTERNATOR AND NOW IT DOSENT CHARGE AT ALL. TRUCK LOST POWER IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTION. THIS HAS HAPPEND MORE THAN ONCE AND HAD TO PUSH IT TO SIDE OF ROAD AND GET IT TOWED.

I TURNED THE KEY TO START THE TRUCK. THE ENGINE TURNED OVER TWICE AND THEN THE BATTERY EXPLODED LIKE A BOMB. BODY DAMAGE TO THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE OCCURED AS WELL AS DAMAGE TO ALL THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT COMPONENTS AS A RESULT OF BEING SPRAYED BY CORROSIVE SULFURIC BATTERY ACID.
