I took my 2021 F150 Powerboost with Max Tow package into the Ford dealership for service and to inspect a noise coming from the driverside rear wheel. When the wheel was removed the source of the noise was confirmed as a sheered-off axle retaining bolt. I was told by the service department the truck was unsafe to drive. I am unsure if this nut holds on the wheel hub assembly but I'm guessing it could lead to loss of power in the affected drivewheel or loss of the wheel altogether. Upon doing some internet research this is quite a common issue…

The axle bolt on both rear wheel hubs has sheared about 1/2 inch down the bolt. This led to the gradual loss of power to the effected wheel hub causing unpredictable handling characteristics as the interface between the axle and the wheel hub degrades due to the fastener being sheared off.

The contact owns a 2021 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at undisclosed speeds, the vehicle overheated, lost motive power, and stalled. While driving, there was an abnormal clucking noise detected. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the axle bolt and spacer were missing. Additionally, the exhaust system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 15,500.

When making 90° turns such as an immediate right turn or a left turn across one lane, gas pedal becomes completly unresponsive halfway through the turn for approx 3 seconds. Occurs about 1% of the time but drastic when it occurs. Almost multiple accidents have occured with oncoming traffic almost t-boning me when making left turns or being rear ended on right turns: people don't anticipate a vehicle stalling and slowing down when entering traffic and people have swerved into other lanes or the shoulder to avoid a collision. When this occurs, i…
