VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE AS A RESULT OF 2 SCREWS THAT MOUNTED AN ELECTRICA TRANSFER SWITCH, WERE INAPPORPERATELY SCREWED INTO THE ENGINES EXHAUST MUFFLER. Owner report 11460901 · 2022-04-15 (April 15, 2022)

Winnebago propane road tank serial #1661055. This tank is mounted on the frame with 2 brackets which are welded to the tank and bolted to the frame. This is the second time for this failure. The tank forms a crack at the end of the bracket where the bracket has a sharp 90 degree corner. The bracket is not welded at this point and is welded 3/4 of an inch from where the leak forms. The second leak happened with a full tank of propane (37.6 gallons) and was at the bottom of the tank and therefore in liquid not gaseous propane. The leak was loud e…

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 WINNEBAGO JOURNEY RV. WHILE MERGING ONTO THE HIGHWAY, THE BRAKES MALFUNCTIONED. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL DOWN TO THE FLOORBOARD AND THE RV WAS FINALLY ABLE TO STOP. THE RV WAS TOWED TO BOB BELL FORD (7125 RITCHIE HWY, GLEN BURNIE, MD 21061, [phone removed]) BECAUSE THE RV HAD A FORD CHASSIS. THE DEALER CALLED THE CONTACT AND STATED THAT ALL OF THE BRAKE LINES WERE RUSTED OUT FROM THE FRONT TO THE REAR. THE WINNEBAGO MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,383.

VEHICLE WANDERS AT HIGHWAY SPEED, SINCE PURCHASE WITH 4,300 MILES. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FREIGHTLINER DEALERS NUMEROUS TIMES. 8 ALIGNMENTS WERE DONE, GEARBOX, DIFFERENTIAL AND TIE RODS WERE REPLACED. REPAIRS DID NOT REMEDY THE PROBLEM, WINNEBAGO INSISTS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH VEHICLE. MR

FRAME MOUNTS UNDER REAR WHEEL WELLS ON 2000 WINNEBAGO JOURNEY FAILED DUE TO FAULTY WELDING; NOTICED PROBLEM WHEN METAL IN WHEEL WELLS STARTED COLLAPSING; THESE WELDS JOIN THE CHASSIS TO FRAME OF RV; HAVE NO REAL INDICATION OF WHEN WELDS FAILED BUT HAS BEEN SEVERAL MONTHS; BECAUSE OF FAULTY WELDS, LOTS OF SHIFTING AND SAGGING IN BACK OF RV ALSO CAUSING POSSIBLE FIRE HAZARD AND HAS FALLEN ON AIR LINES. *JB

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 WINNEBAGO JOURNEY RECREATIONAL VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL TANK CONTINUOUSLY LEAKED NEAR THE WELDED FRONT BRACKET. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC STATED THAT THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,000.
