Owner report 11554394 · 2023-11-09 (November 9, 2023)

I recently leased a Volvo XC60 and the Camera system is not working at night time. During the daytime the Camera is working and able to capture images….At nighttime, the camera is not able to “see” and the images on the onboard screen are all dark. I have a Volvo XC90 VIN: [VIN removed] with a backup camera and it works at night time and is able to capture images at night time and the images are clearly defined and viewable…. The Volvo XC60 is not able to transmit images to the onboard screen. I believe this maybe a software issue…but I …

Owner report 11573057 · 2024-02-20 (February 20, 2024)

I was backing into my garage in reverse gear when there was a sudden power surge and the car accelerated rapidly backwards (without me pushing the gas pedal), which led to a crash that caused substantial damage to the car. The car was out of my control, with it accelerating without reason, so something failed on the car. I do not know what component failed, only that there was a sudden and rapid acceleration in reverse. There are no warning lights and the car was taken for an estimate and damages exceed $10,000.

Owner report 11590062 · 2024-05-22 (May 22, 2024)

The sound system of the vehicle failed. No alerts for cross path detection, no parking alerts, no Bluetooth calling, no gps guidance, no turn signal sound, no ability to call through the sos feature, and no radio. There is no value to the safety features because there is no audible alert for anything. The when you select radio after listening to Bluetooth audio it glitches and turns back to the prior audio source 5-7 times prior to allowing you to stay on the selected source (again no sound so less important of an issue). In addition, the park …

Owner report 11620118 · 2024-10-16 (October 16, 2024)

The contact owns a 2024 Volvo XC60. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the transmission intermittently failed to shift once the vehicle was shut off after it was already on for a long period of time. No warning light was illuminated however, the infotainment screen and the dashboard darkened. The failure occurred on several different occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to get a diagnosis; the dealer stated that the failure cause was unidentifiable. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that almost two months…

Owner report 11659870 · 2025-05-09 (May 9, 2025)

I was backing up out of my driveway and the camera was not available, nor did the sensor work while I was backing up. I hit a parked car as a result of this, resulting in damage to the back of my car. This has happened before, but never resulted in an accident until this time.

Owner report 11661267 · 2025-05-15 (May 15, 2025)

The infotainment center in this vehicle controls multiple features including HVAC, mapping, etc. Mine reboots 3-10 times per day. This causes windows to fog, consule and speed to go blank along with many other important features. I've had it in the shop multiple times and finally they told me that Volvo won;t replace under warranty unless it fully crashes. This isn;t living up to their written warranty and is a safety hazard.

Owner report 11675772 · 2025-07-23 (July 23, 2025)

In April 2025, the engine on our 2024 Volvo XC60 B5 Plus AWD failed suddenly with only 7,000 miles on the vehicle. The vehicle is leased and under full factory warranty. Volvo’s dealership confirmed the engine requires a full OEM replacement. However, our insurer, State Farm, is refusing to authorize a new OEM engine and is instead forcing the installation of a salvaged engine from a wrecked vehicle. This creates significant safety risks: • The salvaged engine’s crash history and internal integrity are unknown and cannot be verified. • It bypa…

25V282000 · Back Over Prevention:Software

Reported: 2025-05-08 (May 8, 2025)

Volvo Car USA, LLC (Volvo Car) is recalling certain 2021-2025 XC40, 2022 V90, 2022-2025 S90, V90CC, C40, XC60, 2023-2025 S60, V60, V60CC, XC90, and 2025 EC40 and EX40 vehicles. Consequence: A rearview camera image that does not display reduces the driver's view of what is behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: The software will be updated by a dealer or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 27, 2025. Owners may contact Volvo Car customer service at 1-800-458-1552. Volvo Car's number for this recall is R10320.
