WHILE DRIVING THE CAR IT WILL ALL OF A SUDDEN JUST DIE. THE BRAKE WILL WORK TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND THE STEERING LOCKS OUT AFTER THE CAR IS STOPPED. BUT AFTER IT DIES YOU CAN RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE CAR HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOUR TIMES NOW FOR THE SAME ISSUE. THE COMPUTERS IN THE CAR DON'T LEAVE A FAULT CODE AND THEY STILL CANNOT FIGURE OUT WHAT THE ISSUE IS BUT I KEEP BEING PLACED IN THE VEHICLE SAYING THAT IT IS RUNNING TO MANUFACTURE SPECS.*TR

Owner report 10415588 · 2011-07-29 (July 29, 2011)
I HAVE A 2009 VW CC THAT NORMALLY IDLES AT 600 RPM BUT DUE TO EITHER ENGINEERING OR A MALFUNCTION IT INCREASES IT'S IDLE TO 950 RPM FOR EITHER AN ELECTRICAL OR COOLING ISSUE DEPENDING ON THE VW TECHNICIAN YOU TALK TO. THIS CREATES A SITUATION WHERE THE VEHICLE WANTS TO LUNGE OR SURGE FORWARD REQUIRING EXCESSIVE PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE TO HOLD STILL. THIS IS A 58% INCREASE IN RPM WITH A VERY LOW STALL TORQUE CONVERTER. THE CAR IS VERY HARD TO DRIVE IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC AS IT IS SURGING FORWARD AND STRESS ON THE DRIVE TRAIN AT THAT RPM. I HAV…

Recall history
4 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.
09V097000 · Seat Belts:Front:Buckle Assembly
Reported: 2009-03-24 (March 24, 2009)
VOLKSWAGEN IS RECALLING APPROXIMATELY 5,000 MY 2009 CC VEHICLES. SOME AFFECTED VEHICLES MAY HAVE AN INCORRECTLY ROUTED RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT BUCKLE WIRING HARNESS, CREATING THE POTENTIAL FOR WIRES TO BECOME DAMAGED WHEN THE SEAT IS MOVED FULLY UP OR DOWN OR BACK AND FORTH. IF THIS WIRING DAMAGE OCCURS, THE AIRBAG CONTROL MODULE WILL SWITCH TO A FALLBACK ALGORITHM AND DEACTIVATE THE PASSENGER'S FRONTAL AIR BAG.
Consequence: IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH, THE PASSENGER'S FRONTAL AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY AND WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PROPERLY PROTECT AN OCCUPANT, INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURIES.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND ADJUST THE ROUTING OF THE RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT WIRING HARNESS. IF A DAMAGED WIRING HARNESS IS FOUND, THE HARNESS WILL BE REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING APRIL 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT VOLKSWAGEN AT 1-800-822-8987.

Reported: 2016-02-10 (February 10, 2016)
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain model year 2010-2014 Golf, 2007-2010 Passat sedans and wagon, 2012-2014 Passat sedan and Eos, 2009-2014 CC, 2009-2012 Audi Q5, 2010-2012 S5 Cabriolet and 2010-2012 Audi A5 Cabriolet vehicles. Upon deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to rupture.
Consequence: In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, the inflator could rupture with metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants potentially resulting in serious injury or death.
Remedy: Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver's frontal air bag inflators, free of charge. Volkswagen issued an interim notification to owners on April 12, 2016, and will send a second notification when parts are available. Volkswagen will notify owners again once parts are available.
