TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 VICTORY CROSS COUNTRY TOUR. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE MOTORCYCLE BEGAN TO HESITATE AND THE ENGINE TURNED OFF; HOWEVER, THE LIGHTING REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE SHOWED A QUARTER OF A TANK OF FUEL REMAINING. THE CONTACT MANAGED TO ROW THE MOTORCYCLE TO A FUEL STATION AND ADDED 5.74 GALLONS OF FUEL. WHILE DOWNSHIFTING, THE SHIFTER LOCKED UP AND WOULD NOT DOWNSHIFT. I PULLED THE CLUTCH LEVER IN AND TRIED TO DOWN SHIFT AGAIN. THE SHIFTER MOVED DOWNWARD BUT THEIR WAS A LOUD BANG THAT SOUNDED LIKE METAL PIECES SHATTERING. I HAD TO PUT MY MOTORCYCLE ON A TRAILER TO GET IT TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER DISASSEMBLED THE MOTOR AND TRANSMISSION TO FIND #4 GEAR WAS MISSING TEETH. THEY INFORMED ME THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED BECAUSE THE VICTORY TRANSMISSION USED CONSTANT MESHED GEARS, THE GEARS NEVER SEPERATE AND REMESH.THEY ALSO INFORMED ME THAT I WAS…

The contact owns a 2016 Victory Cross Country Tour Motorcycle. The contact stated that while riding approximately 35 MPH, the motorcycle experienced transmission failure, causing the motorcycle to abruptly stop in the middle of the roadway. The motorcycle was inoperable and was later towed to the local service center. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 55,000.

17V647000 · Engine And Engine Cooling:Engine | Service Brakes, Hydraulic
Reported: 2017-10-12 (October 12, 2017)
Polaris Industries, Inc. (Polaris) is recalling certain 2010-2017 Victory Cross Country, Cross Country Tour, Cross Roads, Magnum, and Hard Ball motorcycles. If the engine misfires, continued riding may result in heat from the catalytic converter melting the rear brake line and nearby wiring.
Consequence: A melted rear brake line can reduce braking performance, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Polaris will notify owners, and dealers will re-route the brake line away from the exhaust catalyst, free of charge. The recall began on November 8, 2017. Owners may contact Polaris customer service at 1-877-737-7172. Polaris' number for this recall is V-17-02.
