Owner report 10182463 · 2007-02-13 (February 13, 2007)

I BEGAN NOTICING A STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE AROUND MY SUZUKI M109R MOTORCYCLE AND COULD NOT FIND THE CAUSE OF THE STRONG ODOR. I STARTED THE MOTORCYCLE IN MY GARAGE TO LET IT WARM UP AND WENT INSIDE MY HOME TO RETRIEVE A JACKET SO I COULD GO RIDING. WHEN I RETURNED SEVERAL MINUTES LATER THE ODOR OF GASOLINE WAS EXTREMELY STRONG AND I NOTICED A LARGE PUDDLE OF GAS HAD FORMED ON THE GROUND UNDER MOTORCYCLE. I SHUT THE MOTOR OFF AND LOOKED AND NOTICED THAT FRESH GASOLINE WAS POURING FROM UNDER THE LEFT SIDE OF THE AIR BREATHER AND DUMPING ONTO THE …

Owner report 10208433 · 2007-11-08 (November 8, 2007)

THERE WERE NO EVENTS LEADING TO THE FAILURE. THIS IS THE 2ND SUCH FAILURE I HAVE EXPERIENCED. WHEN APPROACHING A STOPLIGHT IN HEAVY TRAFFIC I WAS DOWNSHIFTING THE MOTORCYCLE USING THE ENGINE TO DECELERATE. THE CLUTCH CABLE SNAPPED WITHOUT WARNING WITH THE MOTORCYCLE STILL IN GEAR. I WAS ABLE TO LOCK US THE BRAKES AND KILL THE MOTOR BEFORE RUNNING INTO THE BACK OF A CAR. THIS IS THE 2ND CLUTCH CABLE ON THIS MOTORCYCLE THAT HAS FAILED IN LESS THAN 2 YEARS. AFTER THE FIRST OCCURRENCE I JUST THOUGHT MAYBE I HAD A BAD PART. I REPLACED IT AN…

THERE ARE A NUMBER OF 2006 & 2007 SUZUKI M109R MOTORCYCLES THAT HAVE DEFECTIVE BREAKING SYSTEMS ON THEM. THE REAR ROTOR IS SEPARATING FROM THE MOUNTING PLATE. SUZUKI SAYS THIS IS NORMAL BUT OTHER MECHANICS SAY THAT THE ISSUE IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE CHANGED. SUZUKI HAS IN FACT CHANGED THE ROTOR FOR THE 2008. LINE UP I WILL BE POSTING YOUR WEB SITE SO OTHER OWNERS CAN LET YOU KNOW HOW BIG THIS PROBLEM IS. *TR
