TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 ISUZU NPR HD. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE CONTACT SMELLED DIESEL FUEL AND PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER. THE CONTACT NOTICED THE DIESEL FUEL SPILLING ON THE GROUND. THE CONTACT OPENED THE CAB AND NOTICED THAT THE FUEL LINE WAS FRACTURED. THE TRUCK WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL INJECTION PUMP MOUNTING PLATE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 204,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 ISUZU NPR HD. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT SUDDENLY ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. AFTER TURNING THE ENGINE OFF AND BACK ON, THE VEHICLE OPERATED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FUEL TANK WAS REPLACED DUE TO RUST AND CORROSION. THE FAILURE RECURRED APPROXIMATELY 25,000 MILES LATER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V704000 (FUEL SYSTEM). 15V704000 · Fuel System, Gasoline:Storage:Tank Assembly

Reported: 2015-10-26 (October 26, 2015)

Isuzu Manufacturing Services of America (Isuzu) is recalling certain model year 2006-2008 Isuzu NPR and NPR-HD and Chevrolet W3500 and W4500 trucks manufactured March 16, 2005, to August 13, 2008 and 2006-2008 GMC W3500 and W4500 trucks manufactured July 18, 2005, to August 13, 2008. The affected vehicles have a fuel tank that may corrode and leak fuel.

Consequence: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.

Remedy: Isuzu will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel tank, free of charge. Isuzu issued an interim notification to owners on December 18, 2015. The recall began on April 8, 2016. Owners may contact Isuzu customer service at 1-866-441-9638.
