GLOBAL ELECTRIC MOTORCAR (GEM) VEHICLES CATCH FIRE EITHER WHEN CHARGING OR WHILE SITTING IDLE AND LEFT UNATTENDED. I AM INVOLVED WITH 5 FIRES, ALL DEALING WITH PROPERTY DAMAGE AND KNOW OF 3 OTHERS THAT HAVE TAKEN PLACE IN THE COUNTRY OVER THAT PAST COUPLE OF YEARS. *TR

Reported: 2006-09-28 (September 28, 2006)
ON CERTAIN LOW SPEED VEHICLES, THREE BOLTS ON THE BACK OF THE POWER SIGNAL DISTRIBUTION MODULE (PSDM) MAY NOT HAVE BEEN TIGHTENED PROPERLY WHICH COULD CAUSE A TOTAL LOSS OF POWER TO THE VEHICLE.
Consequence: A LOSS OF POWER WILL RENDER THE CAR INOPERATIVE AND, IF IT HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING, CAN RENDER THE VEHICLE A ROAD HAZARD. ADDITIONALLY, LOSS OF HEADLAMP, TAIL LAMP OR TURN SIGNAL LAMP FUNCTIONS COULD LIMIT THE VEHICLE'S VISIBILITY TO OTHER DRIVERS, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND REPLACE, AS NECESSARY, THE POWER SIGNAL DISTRIBUTION MODULE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 3, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT GLOBAL ELECTRIC AT 1-888-871-4367.
