WHILE TRAVELLING IN MORNING RUSH STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, IN AUSTIN, TEXAS I HAD TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE TRUCK WOULD NOT STOP UNTIL I APPLIED CONSIDERABLE BRAKE PRESSURE. I CAME WITHIN 6 INCHES OF THE VEHICLE IN FRONT. I WAS TRAVELLING AT APPROXIMATELY 1 TO 2 MPH AT THE TIME. ON THE RETURN TRIP IN THE EVENING RUSH HOUR IT WAS ALSO STOP AND GO. I HAD TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP BUT THE TRUCK WOULD NOT STOP. I HAD TO PUT AS MUCH BRAKE PRESSURE AS I COULD TO SLOW THE TRUCK (DOING 1 MPH OR LESS). I STILL TAPPED THE VEHICLE IN FRONT. AT…

OUR TRUCK SHOOK, SPUDDERED AND HEARD A KNOCKING SOUND (CLICKING). THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED SUDDENLY. IT IS CONTINUEING. THE DEALER ASSURES US THAT THE PROBLEM WILL BE FIXED WHEN THEY CAN SEE THE PROBLEM ON THEIR TESTERS. FORD OFFERS A 20 INCH TIRE & WHEEL UPGRADE ON 4X4 LARIAT TRIM (AND OTHERS) BUT DOES NOT INCLUDE THE SPARE TIRE IN THE UPGRADE. SPARE TIRE REMAINS AN 18 INCH WITH THE OUTSIDE DIAMETER ABOUT 1 INCH SMALLER THAN THE ROAD TIRES. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR ADEQUATE 4X4 PERFORMANCE, LOADED HANDLING, RIDE AND STEERING SECURITY. THIS IS A LARGER ISSUE FOR 4X4 VEHICLES THAN IT IS FOR PASSENGER CARS. FORD ADVERTISES A "CONVENTIONAL SPARE" AS STANDARD EQUIPMENT WHICH IS IN FACT SIZED THE SAME AS THE ROAD WHEELS. IN THE SHOWROOM, FORD HIDES THE FACT THAT…

THIS LASTS FOR ABOUT TWO MINUTES. THE FIRST OCCURRENCE WAS WHEN MERGING ON TO THE FREEWAY WITH THE SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER. I HAVE HAD THE TRUCK IN TWO DEALERS. BOTH STATE THIS IS NOT NORMAL BUT FORD HAS INDICATED IT IS AND WILL NOT AUTHORIZE WORK UNTIL SOMETHING BREAKS. THE ODD PART IS THAT THE COMPUTER READS THAT ALL IS OK. Recall history
2 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.
14V204000 · Power Train:Automatic Transmission:Control Module (Tcm/Pcm/Tecm)
Reported: 2014-04-17 (April 17, 2014)
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2015 F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 Super Duty trucks manufactured September 13, 2013, through March 28, 2014, and equipped with 6.2L gasoline or 6.7L diesel engines and 6R140 transmissions. An error with the transmission control software may be such that while shifting from "Park" to "Drive" the vehicle may display "Drive" but possibly engage "Reverse" for 1.5 seconds before engaging "Drive." Therefore, the vehicles do not conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 102, "Transmission Shift Lever Sequence, Starter Interlock, and Transmission Braking Effect."
Consequence: If the vehicle is in "Reverse" while the while the gear selection shows "Drive," unexpected movement could occur, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will update the transmission software, free of charge. The recall began on May 6, 2014. Owners may contact Fords customer service at 1-800-392-3673. Ford's number for this recall is 14C04.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2015-2019 Lincoln MKC, Mustang, F-350 SD, F-250 SD, F-450 SD, 2015-2017 Lincoln Navigator, Expedition, 2015-2018 Edge, Transit Connect, 2016-2019 F-550 SD, Transit, 2017-2019 Econoline, and 2019 Ranger vehicles. The rearview camera may display a distorted, inverted, or blank image when the vehicle is in reverse.
Consequence: A rearview camera that displays an inverted, distorted, or blank image can reduce the driver’s view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the rearview camera as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 13, 2026. Ford owners will receive letters in phases, beginning January 2026 and June 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25S89.
