WEIRD BURN MARKS HAVE APPEARED ON THE TOP OF MY MUFFLER. I BOUGHT THE CAR ON MARCH 15TH, 2019. I FIRST NOTICED IT ON APRIL 21ST, 2019 (SEE CAR DOC 2 PHOTO). I TOOK IT IN TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT ON MAY 8TH, WHEN IT WAS DETERMINED IT WAS JUST A COSMETIC PROBLEM. IT WAS REPLACED ON MAY 15TH. TODAY, MAY 24TH, 2019, I LOOKED AT IT AND SAW THE SAME PROBLEM STARTING AGAIN (SEE CAR DOC 3 PHOTO). A REPRESENTATIVE AT THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THEY SAW ANOTHER ECOSPORT WITH THE SAME ISSUE, BUT NO ONE CAN IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. I'M GROWING CONCERNED AS IT LOOKS T…

WHILE ON A LONG TRIP I STOPPED ON A SERVICE AREA. WHEN I GOT OFF THE VEHICLE I NOTICED A STRONG HEAT SMELL. WHEN OPEN HOOD I NOTICED TURBO WAS GLOWING RED TOT ALL THE WAY BELOW OXIGEN SENSOR.

WHEN SHIFTING FROM REVERSE INTO DRIVE THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS RESULTING IN THE CAR JUMPING FORWARD. SOMETIMES IT ONLY STUMBLES AND IS BARELY NOTICEABLE. OTHER TIMES IT JUMPS FORWARD SEVERAL FEET. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT IT AND WE DROVE ANOTHER BRAND NEW CAR THAT HAD THE SAME ISSUE. THEIR MECHANIC SAID IT WAS NORMAL. THIS MAKES TURNING AROUND IN A PARKING LOT OR SMALL SPACE VERY DANGEROUS.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 FORD ECOSPORT. AFTER DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 TO 40 MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED, THE SPEED DRASTICALLY REDUCED. ALSO, WHILE THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS SET AT 78 MPH, THE SPEED ERRONEOUSLY DECELERATED TO 74 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MULLINAX FORD (2317 STATE RD 44, NEW SMYRNA BEACH, FL), BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,300.

I WAS A STOP LIGHT AND THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF AND WOULD NOT LET ME RESTART IT. AFTER AWHILE AND A FEW WARNING SYSTEMS THE VEHICLE FINALLY TURNED OVER. AFTER THAT THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE STARTED TO RUN A DIAGNOSTICS WHICH I WAS UNABLE TO SEE. AS I BEGIN TO DRIVE AGAIN THE VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL CUTS OFF AND CAUSES ME TO TEMPORARILY LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I PURCHASED VEHICLE OCTOBER 2019 AND ASKED PREOWNED DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY I PURCHASED ABOUT THE ISSUE I HAVE: MY VEHICLE HAS DELAYED ACCELERATION AND JERKS ITS WAY THROUGH GEARS WHEN I AM MOVING AT STOP LIGHT OR BACKING UP FROM PARKING SPACE. ALSO STEERING GEAR SHAKES AND ASKED THEM IF IT WAS AN ALIGNMENT ISSUE BUT THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH IT.

Reported: 2019-01-02 (January 2, 2019)
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2019 Ford EcoSport vehicles. The front seat frames may have been improperly welded, resulting in the seat back being improperly secured. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 207, "Seating Systems," and 210, "Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages."
Consequence: A loose seat back can increase the risk of injury in a crash.
Remedy: Ford has notified owners, and dealers will replace the front seat assemblies, free of charge. The recall began May 8, 2019. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 18C08.

Reported: 2023-12-22 (December 22, 2023)
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2016-2018 Ford Focus and 2018-2022 Ford EcoSport vehicles. The oil pump drive belt or drive belt tensioner may fail, resulting in a loss of engine oil pressure.
Consequence: A loss of oil pressure can result in an engine stall and a loss of power braking assist, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the oil pump tensioner assembly and oil pump drive belt, free of charge. If engine failure occurs due to a damaged oil pump belt and/or oil pump belt tensioner, Ford has authorized dealers to replace the engine assembly as an interim repair before the availability of remedy parts for the final repair. This repair will be free of charge (parts and labor). Owner notification letters were mailed August 11, 2025. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 23S64.
