2023 Can-Am RYKER: complaints, problems and recalls

When making left turns the computer causes the left turn to become unsafe, a feeling in the steering line a flat tire, or otherwise causing over steering and can result in accidents due to the faulty computer system. Issue appears to effect many Can Am Rykers, it is a known defect per the dealers, and even through 4 years of production Can Am has failed to resolve this known issue. The contact owns a 2023 Can Am Ryker. The contact stated that while making a sharp turn to the left or the right, the front end of the vehicle locked up without warning. The contact also stated that the failure usually occurred while driving above 20 MPH. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the contact was informed that the yaw sensor had caused the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 1,000.

BRP has launched a recall campaign (23V855) for the fuel pump on ALL YEARS of Can-Am Ryker spanning from 2019-2024 but somehow my 2023 [VIN removed] ryker is not included in the affected population. I've seen too many instances of the ryker being stranded on the side of the road that I am beginning to get worried that I might get stranded as well. Common problem amongst Can Am Ryker riders. When making a sweeping left turn between 20-40 mph, the right front wheel will brake/accelerate on it's own and the bike will jerk. It also causes the right wheel to wobble forcing me to accelerate or decelerate to retain control of the bike. I quick google search produced hundreds of other riders experiencing the same issue and that BRP/Can Am does not have a permanent fix for this issue. The contact owns a 2023 Can-Am Ryker. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle shuddered. No warning lights were illuminated. Brake light stays illuminated even when brakes are not engaged. Upon research internet shows this is a recall issue affecting 35,000+ can-am rykers but when I contact my dealer they say that it is not a recall. Can someone please look into this? I believe it should absolutely be a recall and fixed at no cost.

Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) is recalling certain 2019-2023 Ryker motorcycles. The position light and flasher electrical harnesses in the front fenders may loosen and rub on the tire, leading to a short circuit and resulting in an engine stall while driving.

Consequence: An engine stall while driving increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will secure the two harnesses, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 9, 2022. Owners may contact Bombardier customer service at 1-888-272-9222.

Reported: 2023-03-17 (March 17, 2023)

Bombardier Recreational Products, Inc. (BRP) is recalling certain 2020-2023 Spyder RT and 2022-2023 Ryker motorcycles. The brake lights may stay illuminated even if the brake pedal is not pressed. As such, these motorcycles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and associated Equipment."

Consequence: Brake lights that remain illuminated can fail to alert other motorists of the rider's intention and increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Depending on the model, dealers will replace the brake light switch, adjust the brake light switch, and/or add a spring to the brake light switch, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 17, 2023. Owners may contact BRP Customer Service at 1-888-272-9222. BRP's number for this recall is 2023-6.

Reported: 2023-12-15 (December 15, 2023)

Bombardier Recreational Products, Inc. (Bombardier) is recalling certain 2019-2023 Can-Am Ryker motorcycles. The impeller may swell, causing the high-pressure fuel pump to fail.

Consequence: A fuel pump failure can cause an engine stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the fuel pump as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 27, 2024. Owners may contact Bombardier customer service at 1-888-272-9222. Bombardier's number for this recall is Bulletin 2023-10.
