2022 Can-Am RYKER: complaints, problems and recalls

Driving ryker down road at speeds of 55 mph and motorcycle shuts down. All power lost instrument panel off. Was able to pull over to side of road fortunately. Computer says VSS fault will not start. A Facebook member of a group suggested I check number 7 fuse. I did and it was blown. It says it’s for electrical module. It’s 10 amps. I replaced and bike worked again. Next day it blows at an intersection when I’m stopped at a light in traffic. No power again. Pull over and blown number 7 fuse again.

The contact owns a 2022 Can-Am Ryker motorcycle. The contact stated while riding 60 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power with the parking brake warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 1,300.

VSS FAULT WITH LIMP HOME MODE CAME ON WHEN ATTEMPTING TO GET ON A HIGHWAY WITH SPEEDS GREATER THAN 55 MPH, THIS WAS THE FIRST ATTEMPT. BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY SPENT A COUPLE DAYS FIGURING IT IN THE SERVICE DEPT. THEY SAID BAD YAW SENSOR. During a turn the handlebars became loose during steering. While steering the handlebars twisted counter clockwise (this was a left hand turn) approximately 30 degrees. After pulling them back into place, they were still approximately 3 degrees off center. This happened before the bike had even 200 miles on it. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed in a severe thunderstorm, he attempted to engage the turn signals to notify other drivers that he was switching lanes however, he discovered that the motorcycle had no turn signals. The contact owns a 2022 Can-Am Ryker. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 mph and making a right turn, the steering failed and the tricycle would not turn to cause the tricycle to crash into a parked vehicle. During the crash, the rider was thrown forward over the handlebars slamming into a concrete pillar. The contact sustained a fractured finger, and injured back and right leg. Hello On Saturday August 27th 2022 I was driving west on Route 30 in Mattson IL, when I observe smoke coming from the front of my bike. After driving pass a traffic light, I pull over to the right the road and tried to stop my bike applied the brakes and the paddle went straight to the floor. The contact owns a 2022 Cam-Am Ryker. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V503000 (Steering) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The local dealer was contacted and it was confirmed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

Reported: 2022-07-13 (July 13, 2022)

Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. (BRP) is recalling certain 2022 Can-Am Ryker motorcycles. The handlebar stem bolt may break unexpectedly due to insufficient thread length.

Consequence: A broken handlebar stem bolt can cause a sudden loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Owners are advised to not ride their motorcycle until the remedy is complete. Dealers will clean the threads of the steering column and install a new steering stem bolt, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 14, 2022. Owners may contact BRP customer service at 1-888-272-9222. BRP's number for this recall is 2022-16.

Reported: 2022-10-22 (October 22, 2022)

Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) is recalling certain 2019-2023 Ryker motorcycles. The position light and flasher electrical harnesses in the front fenders may loosen and rub on the tire, leading to a short circuit and resulting in an engine stall while driving.

Consequence: An engine stall while driving increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will secure the two harnesses, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 9, 2022. Owners may contact Bombardier customer service at 1-888-272-9222.

Reported: 2023-03-17 (March 17, 2023)

Bombardier Recreational Products, Inc. (BRP) is recalling certain 2020-2023 Spyder RT and 2022-2023 Ryker motorcycles. The brake lights may stay illuminated even if the brake pedal is not pressed. As such, these motorcycles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and associated Equipment."

Consequence: Brake lights that remain illuminated can fail to alert other motorists of the rider's intention and increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Depending on the model, dealers will replace the brake light switch, adjust the brake light switch, and/or add a spring to the brake light switch, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 17, 2023. Owners may contact BRP Customer Service at 1-888-272-9222. BRP's number for this recall is 2023-6.

Reported: 2023-12-15 (December 15, 2023)

Bombardier Recreational Products, Inc. (Bombardier) is recalling certain 2019-2023 Can-Am Ryker motorcycles. The impeller may swell, causing the high-pressure fuel pump to fail.

Consequence: A fuel pump failure can cause an engine stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the fuel pump as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 27, 2024. Owners may contact Bombardier customer service at 1-888-272-9222. Bombardier's number for this recall is Bulletin 2023-10.
