Faulty CVT transmission, known issue, failed before 90,000 miles. CVT Transmision is supposed to not need servicing, i.e. fluid change, therefore, no service to transmision was done prior.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2020 TOYOTA C-HR. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITH THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE AND ANOTHER UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HER NEIGHBOR ASSISTED WITH JUMP STARTING THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED SHE HAD EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE 3 TIMES IN TOTAL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 7,384.

Transmission is failing prematurely. Family in car. Car stalls and fails to move in middle of busy intersection. Restart the car and then luckily get out of way to safety. Dealer acknowledged and done a test. The transmission issue is being ignored by Toyota. Toyota of Knoxville is currently attempting to avoid working on fixing this safety issue. No indication other than sudden whining, then grinding, the. Stalling.

I started hearing a grinding noise coming from the front driver-side wheel well for about a week. Then one day, while backing out of my driveway, the car suddenly lost power. I was stuck on a slight incline and no matter if I put it in reverse or drive, the car wouldn't move, it just wouldn’t respond like it normally does. A few days after that, I was sitting at a red light with my foot on the brake when the car jerked backwards. I was told by dealership that my transmission needs replaced. As per Reddit, this year make and model has had many issues with transmissions needing to be replaced as soon as 50,000 miles. I’m not understanding why there has not been a recall on these specific transmissions. Dealership is wanting to charge me $12,000 for replacement. I don’t have that type of money especially when I owe $17,000 still on this car. Plz help me or I’m going to be out a vehicle and extreme debt if I can’t get this fixed. The motor mounts broke when it hit a pothole and that snapped the wiring harness which caused the transmission to shift. Toyota dealership says it needs a new CVT transmission replacement. The engine has shifting issues. My insurance adjusters believe that the transmission failure is due to wear and tear, but the car did not have issues before the pothole.
