Owner report 11034519 · 2017-10-19 (October 19, 2017)

ON SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 2017 AT ABOUT 3:00 PM, MY WIFE AND I WERE TRAVELING AT 60 MPH ON I - 76 IN COMMERCE CITY, A SUBURB OF DENVER, COLORADO. SUDDENLY THE BRAKE LIGHT FLASHED ON, THEN MULTIPLE OTHER DASHBOARD INDICATORS BEGAN FLASHING, THE ENGINE DIED COMPLETELY AND THE BRAKES AND STEERING WORKED POORLY. I HAD TO QUICKLY CROSS SEVERAL LANES OF TRAFFIC TO STOP ON THE SHOULDER OF THE EXPRESSWAY. FORD ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE HELPED ARRANGE TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED. THE TOW TRUCK ARRIVED AT 8:45. WE WERE SUBSEQUENTLY PARKED AT A RUSH TRUCK CENTER…

Owner report 11464548 · 2022-05-13 (May 13, 2022)

The living compartments/slides, surge out on their own, at any time, parked or while moving. Unknown how far the slides may surge out, but I've talked to one owner, who said his slide came out 8 inches. Mine has come out about 4 inches, while parked and 2+ inches, while traveling/in-motion. A wiring harness, from the engine compartment is routed over the catalytic-converter, without a heatshield. Mine has been inspected and has this problem. One owner had his wiring catch fire and had to be towed off the highway. My unit lost power, on a …

Owner report 11752395 · 2026-07-23 (July 23, 2026)

In troubleshooting a power failure in the slide and leveling hydraulic system in this Class A RV, an electrical issue was discovered with the main powerline being frayed and corroded due to its placement next to the gas tank. It appears the power line may have been arching against the fuel tank. This seems like a very dangerous situation and should be reviewed. No incidents happened due to the discovery of this issue, and the powerline was repaired and moved away from the the fuel tank. If this was a repeated manufacturing issue by Tiffin, it …

Owner report 11469044 · 2022-06-13 (June 13, 2022)

The fuel filler line is chaffing the the chassis frame cut-out where it gets routed to the fuel tank (80 gallon tank). I contacted Tiffin and they sent me a bracket to secure the fuel line from the chassis. I inspected other 2018 Tiffin Open Road models (3 in my neighborhood (all different) and they all has the same issue. Over time the chaffing has the possibility to chaffing through the fuel line and start a possible fire. My generator is right next to the fuel tank and if running with with possible fuel vapors in the air could start a fire t…
