Owner report 11448468 · 2022-01-22 (January 22, 2022)

The rear brake pads on Polestar 2s (P2) are susceptible to adhering to the rotors, causing a juddering noise from some of the pad breaking off and left stuck on the rotors. This appears to happen in wet climates, after its driven in the rain, after the wheels are cleaned with water, or stored in a humid space. Typical symptoms are: (a) the morning after the pads are exposed to water or excessive humidity, the brakes makes a loud THUD noise when initially moving it out of standstill; (b) it then proceeds with a low-pitched grinding noise coming …

Owner report 11453599 · 2022-02-23 (February 23, 2022)

Modem failed on vehicle on 02/04/222. Vehicle went in for diagnostic service on that issue on 02/14/2022. Manufacturer installed new software update which added Auto Brake part of Cross Traffic Alert is to stop the vehicle in the shortest possible distance to avoid collision and did not tell me it was added or advise how to disable it. On the morning of 2/15/2022, while using due caution and circumspection, I attempted to back into my flat, level and unobstructed residential driveway. For no reason at all, a loud noise went off and, for no reas…

Owner report 11643703 · 2025-02-19 (February 19, 2025)

When at red light or stop sign intermittently the vehicle lunges forward on its own 1-3 feet. without the brake or go pedal pressed. Vehicle is driven in OPD creep mode off. Lunges almost like if you popped the clutch on a manual transmission car. I always leave space behind the car in front of me so have not had a crash. However I would be afraid of it doing it with someone walking close in a crosswalk. Vehicle was taken to Polestar service today after it happened to my wife this morning. I see other people in various groups having the sam…

Owner report 11670065 · 2025-06-29 (June 29, 2025)

My vehicle's rearview camera occasionally fails to activate when I shift the transmission into reverse. Instead of displaying the camera feed, the infotainment system presents a persistent message stating, 'Camera is temporarily unavailable.' This issue significantly impairs my ability to safely maneuver the vehicle in reverse, increasing the risk of collision with objects or pedestrians due to the lack of visual information typically provided by the rearview camera system. This exists after the second recall fix for this issue was performed by…

Owner report 11452552 · 2022-02-17 (February 17, 2022)

Lane keeping assistance function consistently steers the vehicle onto freeway exits when used on the freeway. (note, this is in California with exits using CA's normal shoulder line markings) The steering onto the exit happens abruptly, with significant steering authority; rapid assertive driver intervention is required to maintain vehicle in lane. This behavior appeared after the vehicle completed an OTA update to software version P1.8.

Owner report 11461740 · 2022-04-22 (April 22, 2022)

On 12/26/2021, I merged onto the I-5 South highway to Irvine, CA, and engaged Pilot Assist. The “speedometer dial” icon turned yellow (as expected), but the “car in front” and “hand hold wheel” icons remained grayed out. I believe this indicated 2 things: (1) the car was still looking for a lead car, and (2) the car was searching for clear lane markings. Everything appeared to be normal at this point as it does take some time to take over the steering. As I approach a slower moving lead car in front of me, I noticed that the car was still a…

Owner report 11491074 · 2022-10-26 (October 26, 2022)

Vehicle becomes nonrespive and becomes disabled. The only way to get vehicle to function is by disconnecting the 12v battery and waiting for the car to reset and then proceed. This happened multiple times and the manufacturer is not taking care of the problem.

Owner report 11717731 · 2026-02-13 (February 13, 2026)

The polestar 2 continues to be unsafe. When reversing the rear camera freezes up always, and takes minutes to stop lagging, being very unsafe when backing up onto a busy road out of the driveway. One pedal drive glitches and fails to brake when letting off the foot, another safety concern. TCAM and connection issues, my IPhone 16 constantly drops Bluetooth to the car, and when it drops connection it takes a hard reboot to the car for it to connect again. Front suspension knocking and clicking sound. When turning the front struts knock, and w…
