1. HITCH CAME LOOSE FROM TOW VEHICLE. 2. WITH NO LOAD IN TRAILER BOTH SAFTY CHAINS FAILED. 3. BRAKE SWITCH CABLE FAILED PRIOR TO SETTING BRAKES. 4. TRAILER PASSED TOW VEHICLE ON ROAD AND HAD TO BE FORCED OFF ROAD. MAJOR DAMAGE TO TOW VEHICLE. 5. CONTACTED MFG. 4/15/04 (RODGER HEAD OF C/S) AND E-MAILED PHOTO'S OF DEFECTIVE AREAS. NO RESPOSE. CALLED AGAIN 5/06/04, NOT INTERESTED. 6. TRAILER IS RATED FOR 14,000 LBS AS WAS EMPTY AT TIME OF FAILURE.

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THE TOWED DOUBLE AXLE TRAILER WAS OBSERVED TO HAVE POOR BRAKING ACTION. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS TO ALERT THE CONTACT. THE TRAILER WAS TAKEN TO A DEALERSHIP, WHO DETERMINED THE BRAKE SHOES WERE SEPARATED IN ONE OF THE AXLE'S WHEELS. AFTER DRIVING TO ANOTHER STATE, THE TRAILER BRAKE PROBLEM WAS NOTICED AGAIN. UPON INSPECTION, THE WHEEL WAS OBSERVED TO BE OVERHEATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP WHO DETERMINED THE BRAKE SHOES WERE ADHERED TO THE DRUMS.…
