Owner report 11556468 · 2023-11-22 (November 22, 2023)

The steering becomes “sticky” at highway speeds. The wheel resists turning until sufficient force is applied, and then slips to a next setting or “notch”, where it further rests until force is applied. The effect is not particularly pronounced at low speeds but very noticeable at regular highway speeds (~60 mph). No great force is required to turn the wheel from one “notch” to the next, but the resistance and continual need for readjusting course (because of the “stuck” steering wheel) are fatiguing over time.

Owner report 11544624 · 2023-09-14 (September 14, 2023)

I use car washes that require you to put the car in neutral and the car wash has a device that pulls the car through. Upon exit, you are supposed to put the car into drive and drive away. But unfortunately the car will not go into drive. An error message pops up that tells me I can’t go into drive. I then have to quickly hit the brake, put the car in park, and then into drive so I can pull away. This is dangerous if there is a car behind you in the car wash because you have almost no time to react. This has happened at least 5 times, and next t…

Owner report 11551719 · 2023-10-24 (October 24, 2023)

The adaptive cruise control (ACC) system in the CX90 is experiencing a high number of false positive incidents, which could lead to accidents. The system consistently thinks that a vehicle in the right or left lane has moved in front of the CX90, mainly when going around a curve. This is especially common when passing 18-wheelers, where the system will start alerting the driver with a noise and flashing alert to depress the brake pedal. The system then begins emergency braking procedures, even though the 18-wheeler or other vehicle has not actu…

Owner report 11521778 · 2023-05-12 (May 12, 2023)

During normal driving conditions going down a state highway, the vehicle lost speed with adaptive cruise control enabled. Noticing the vehicle was losing speed, I depressed the accelerator pedal. The accelerator pedal was unresponsive and unable to accelerate, I had to maneuver off the highway. Luckily, the car behind my vehicle was far enough behind me and my vehicle was going fast enough that I was able to coast to a safe stop on the side of the highway. A message popped up on the instrument cluster screen informing me to shift the transm…

Owner report 11558847 · 2023-12-06 (December 6, 2023)

On 12/5/2023, upon turn after intersection, loss of power to the engine. Pushing gas provided no response from the engine. Engine power cut to about 10 miles an hour. Felt as the car was driving on battery - as no engine was heard. Was able to pull over to the side. Turned off and on engine 2-3 times but the power wasn't restored. Received warning on dashboard that there is malfunction with engine. Also received errors on Mazda application I had on phone. Engine light was on the dashboard. Photos attached. While obtaining assistance for tow ser…

Owner report 11552815 · 2023-10-31 (October 31, 2023)

Gear shift can easily slide from Drive to Neutral (and from Neutral to Reverse) if a book, purse, or other object is on the center console and slides forward and touches the gearshift when vehicle comes to a stop. Photos attached show me shifting from D to N with my pinky finger. This is a safety problem because if the center console is flat, making it easy for someone to place an object on it. When the car needs to stop somewhat quickly, the object on the console slides forward and pushes the gearshift into Neutral. This happened to me whil…

Owner report 11577123 · 2024-03-13 (March 13, 2024)

There has been two dangerous failures both occurring in an intersection. First instance was in December of 2023 whey the fuel pump failed while turning in an intersection. The second incident was a hybrid battery malfunction, rendering my vehicle unusable in the middle of an intersection again. This was 03/2023

Owner report 11610478 · 2024-08-23 (August 23, 2024)

I was traveling at 40mph on August 14 when the engine stopped running suddenly and without warning. I lost all power. I tried pressing the gas pedal and the engine shuddered and sputtered with the speed ranging from 0 mph to about 18mph with no steady duration longer than a second or two. At the same time an engine icon appeared and a message displayed reading engine malfunction. I safely exited the travel lane despite having very little power. I waited 10 seconds and restarted the car and everything worked fine. I called the dealer explaine…
