Owner report 10852460 · 2016-03-30 (March 30, 2016)

ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT PLUS BUZZER SOUNDED. IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER ONLY TO FIND COMPLETE LOSS OF BRAKES. FAULTY DESIGN TO ALLOW BRAKES TO FAIL DUE TO AN ABS PUMP GOING OUT. NEEDS A NEW MASTER CYLINDER ASSEMBLY AND ABS ACCUMULATOR. COULD HAVE BEEN A TRAGIC ACCIDENT IF I HADN'T BEEN DRIVING ONLY 30MPH. A LOT OF REVIEWS ONLINE WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT AND TOTAL LOSS OF BRAKING POWER.

Owner report 11491070 · 2022-10-26 (October 26, 2022)

--The failure involved the vehicle steering system. Specifically the Variable Gear Ratio Steering (VGRS) Electronic Control Unit (ECU) had failed resulting in a severe alignment mismatch between the steering wheel and the front tires. In order for the front wheels to drive in a straight line, the steering wheel would be off center by anywhere from 20 degrees to 120 degrees. This made keeping the vehicle driving in a straight line very difficult. The malfunctioning VGRS ECU is available for inspection upon request. --The above description is…

Owner report 11491072 · 2022-10-26 (October 26, 2022)

This is an amended report filing: --I brought the following issues to the attention of Lexus corporate customer care and after they reviewed the situation, they refused to offer any financial responsibility for correcting this serious safety issue even after I informed them that the same VGRS systems in the Lexus LS460, LS 460L, LS 600h, and LS 600hL were all recalled in 2010 and also the VGRS system in the 2013 Lexus GS 350F was also recalled. These recalls similarly involved off-center steering wheel problems related to the VGRS systems. Th…

Owner report 11191582 · 2019-03-26 (March 26, 2019)

VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING AT SPEED OF 30 TO 50 MILES AN HOUR SUDDENLY HAS SINGLE WHEELED FRONT BREAKING ON LEFT WHEEL OR RIGHT WHEEL ALL OF A SUDDEN. TENDS TO FEEL LIKE WHAT THE BRAKING SYSTEM DOES DURING THE ACTIVATION OF THE VEHICLE SKID CONTROL SYSTEM WHILE DRIVING ON SLIPPERY SURFACES IN WINTER LIGHT CONDITIONS. THIS ALSO HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PUT INTO REVERSE AFTER FIRST STARTING ENGINE, SHIFTING INTO REVERSE AND BACKING UP SHORT DISTANCE. THE FACT THAT THE VEHICLE DOES IT WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 30 TO 50 MILES AN HOUR IS QUITE DANGER…

Owner report 10172528 · 2006-11-03 (November 3, 2006)

I LEASE A LEXUS 400H AND HAVE JUST YESTERDAY BEEN INFORMED THAT IT IS A DRIVE BY WIRE VEHICLE WITH NO MECHANICAL LINKAGE BETWEEN THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE FRONT TIRES. I AM A HAM RADIO OPERATOR AND UPON TRANSMISSION THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES. NO AMOUNT OF FILTERING OR OTHER MEASURES HAVE ALLEVIATED THE PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THAT THE CAR IS INHERENTLY DANGEROUS AND WOOULD NEVER HAVE LEASED IT IF I HAD KNOW THAT IT WAS A DRIVE BY WIRE VEHICLE. NOTE THAT THERE ARE A LARGE NUMBER OF RF SOURCES SUCH AS BROADCAST STATIONS, TV STATIONS, MICROWAVE L…

Owner report 11607550 · 2024-08-09 (August 9, 2024)

My car A/C servo motor(s) had an internal electrical malfunction which lead to inconsistent air temperature coming from the air conditioner (A/C) vents, air not coming out at the selected temperature, and air not coming out of the passenger A/C vent of the vehicle. This is exactly what's documented in [XXX] Lexus Of Sacramento refused to honor this recall & so did when I called Lexus Corporation. Lexus Of Sacramento changed servo motor part # 87106-50390 & a few other servo motors. The total cost to fix the car is approx $2500 INFORMATION R…

Owner report 11466121 · 2022-05-25 (May 25, 2022)

While driving up I70 in colorado I experienced a fuel smell in the cab of the vehicle. When I stopped to see what the issue was I found fuel vapors coming out of the fuel door/gas cap. I replaced the gas cap and again experienced this issue. This leads me to believe the fuel evap system does not work correctly causing excessive fuel pressure in the gas tank, leading to pressurized fuel coming up out of the Gas cap. I google this issue and found this seems to be a comen problem that Toyota / Lexus has not addressed. This is a giant safety c…
