Owner report 11191582 · 2019-03-26 (March 26, 2019)

VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING AT SPEED OF 30 TO 50 MILES AN HOUR SUDDENLY HAS SINGLE WHEELED FRONT BREAKING ON LEFT WHEEL OR RIGHT WHEEL ALL OF A SUDDEN. TENDS TO FEEL LIKE WHAT THE BRAKING SYSTEM DOES DURING THE ACTIVATION OF THE VEHICLE SKID CONTROL SYSTEM WHILE DRIVING ON SLIPPERY SURFACES IN WINTER LIGHT CONDITIONS. THIS ALSO HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PUT INTO REVERSE AFTER FIRST STARTING ENGINE, SHIFTING INTO REVERSE AND BACKING UP SHORT DISTANCE. THE FACT THAT THE VEHICLE DOES IT WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 30 TO 50 MILES AN HOUR IS QUITE DANGER…

Owner report 11255740 · 2019-09-16 (September 16, 2019)

HI THERE. HAVE BEEN A LATER OWNER OF A '00 LX470 WITH ROUGHLY 250K MILES. EARLY ON IN MY OWNERSHIP--WITH THE VEHICLE IN MOTION AND NO PRIOR WARNING-- THE ABS LIGHT COMES ON AND A LOUD BEEPING NOISE STARTS. WITHIN 5 MINUTES OF DRIVING, THE BRAKE PEDAL SUDDENLY GOES DEAD (PUSHES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR), AND I WAS FORCED TO BRING THE CAR TO A SAFE STOP WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. THE CURRENT REPAIR FOR THIS HAS BEEN COSTLY AND DIFFICULT--WITH A PROFESSIONAL SHOP INSPECTION INFORMING ME THAT MY MASTER CYLINDER/ACTUATOR HAS FAILED. THANKFUL NO DAMAG…

Owner report 11255741 · 2019-09-16 (September 16, 2019)

OWNER OF A NEWLY ACQUIRED '00 LX470 FROM TOYOTA/LEXUS. WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR, IT PASSED SAFETY AND MECHANIC INSPECTION. AFTER OWNING FOR LESS THAN 4 MONTHS, I WAS DRIVING HOME ON STREET ROADS. THE ABS LIGHT COMES ON SUDDENLY, AND I HEAR A HIGH-PITCHED BEEPING NOISE FROM THE DASH. WITHIN 5 MINUTES OF DRIVING, I AM MOVING ABOUT 30 MPH WHEN THE BRAKES GO OUT-COMPLETELY. AS IN, PEDAL TO THE FLOOR WITH NO SLOWING. WAS FORCED TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE, THANKFULLY WITH NO INJURIES OR CRASH. WENT TO GET A PROFESSIONAL I…

Owner report 11382987 · 2020-12-11 (December 11, 2020)

A RAPID DISCHARGE OF BRAKE FLUID OCCURRED FROM THE ABS VALVE BODY ON THE MASTER CYLINDER. I DROVE THE VEHICLE THAT DAY AND PARKED IT IN THE DRIVEWAY. ABOUT AN HOUR LATER I WENT OUT TO MOVE IT AND WHEN I DID THERE WAS A LARGE PUDDLE WHERE IT WAS PARKED. I LOOKED UNDER THE VEHICLE AND FLUID WAS DRIPPING OFF THE FRAME RAIL ONTO THE GROUND. WHEN I OPENED THE HOOD I COULD SEE FLUID DRIPPING AT ABOUT A DRIP A SECOND FROM BELOW THE MASTER CYLINDER/ABS VALVE BODY. THE DRIP RATE WAS DEPENDENT ON THE KEY BEING IN THE 'ON' POSITION AND THE BOOSTER PU…

Owner report 11693882 · 2025-10-16 (October 16, 2025)

Tire size is a P275 / 70 / R18 On 10/11/2025 I experienced a belt separation on my driver side rear tire which resulted in a noticeable bulge in the tread area. I had similar issues with two other matching tires in this set and one of them blew out leading to a rapid loss of air. I am sure if I wouldn't have been hyper-aware of early tell tale signs of this potential issue from the previous incidents, this tire may have also blown out on me. This is three out of the five General ATP tires in this set of five that have failed from the same bel…
