THE "CLOCK SPRING" FAILED IN MY 2007 JEEP WRANGLER RUBICON. THE "CLOCK SPRING" IS THE DEVICE WITHIN THE STEERING WHEEL HUB THAT THE ELECTRICITY PASSES THROUGH ALLOW IN THE AIRBAG, HORN, AND CRUISE CONTROL TO WORK WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL IS BEING TURNED. WHEN THE CLOCK SPRING FAILS THESE ITEMS DO NOT WORK. THE SERVICE WRITER AT KEFFER JEEP IN CHARLOTTE NORTH CAROLINA, [phone removed], EXPLAINED THERE IS MORE THAN 500 BACK ORDERED AND IT WILL BE UP TO A YEAR BEFORE THE PART ARRIVES. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP WRANGLER 4X4 RHD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HIS VEHICLE COULD CAUSE A CRASH, ACCORDING TO RECALL NUMBER 07V291000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY WAITING TO BE REPAIRED. HE ALSO STATED THAT THE ENGINE HAS SHUT OFF ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH. THE PURCHASE DATE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 5,800.
