Owner report 11522976 · 2023-05-20 (May 20, 2023)

My son was backing out of a parking spot at a strip mall. He released some pressure on the brake and indicated that the car lurched backwards and even though he reapplied full pressure to the brakes, he hit the car at the curb resulting in damage to our Tucson, but luckily not the to the other car. The Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist system did not engage, but my son indicated that the rear distance warning system did beep. I am concerned due to the sudden acceleration/lurching incident my son experienced and this is not acceptab…

Owner report 11550145 · 2023-10-16 (October 16, 2023)

2023 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Blue Issue: no power /accelerator response from slow speed. Since 4/23- 9 instances involving this issue none resulted in crashes but did result in near misses and 2 cases coasting off the edge of the road to avoid being hit. 6 of the instances happened when attempting a left turn in traffic at an intersection. 3 of the instances involved when trying to enter a traffic circle(turning right). In all of the instances the vehicle was in Eco mode. Description of Intersection Instances: Left turn with a blinking yello…

Owner report 11550615 · 2023-10-18 (October 18, 2023)

While driving the vehicle, the acceleration stopped and the car came to a halt right in the middle of the road. It acted like the battery drained and the gas did not kick in. The only fix was to shut it off and turn it back on. Took it to dealership they said they couldn’t find anything wrong with it so we picked up the car and as soon as we drove off, it happened again. This could result in a fatality if it happens on a busy highway since there is no warning and it just stops working. Took it back and the dealer says they can’t find anything w…

Owner report 11670164 · 2025-06-30 (June 30, 2025)

1. Sometimes vehicle does not start. Only starts if battery reset button pushed. 2. Sometimes vehicle while moving has delayed braking after juddering. Only stops when car stopped and restarted. 3. Sometimes vehicle while moving suddenly revs, RPMs spike until car stopped and restarted. Engine revs but does not shoot forward. 4. Spookiest of all, while moving car suddenly stops accelerating. Pedal on the floor and it is coasting to a stop. When car stopped, and turned off, then it will work. Had we been on the interstate we would have died, Th…

Owner report 11520034 · 2023-05-02 (May 2, 2023)

Two times in the last two weeks of March and about 10 times since we purchased the vehicle new in December 2022, after starting the vehicle and backing out of our garage onto our street, then stopping then shifting from reverse to drive and going no faster than 15-20 mph for about 300 yards, the Tucson revs up to about 3ooo-3500 rpm and will not shift into second gear. After about 1 minute or so it seems ok. But until then the transmission does not shift smoothly like it did the first six weeks of ownership. It did not operate like this until a…

Owner report 11620349 · 2024-10-17 (October 17, 2024)

Automatic transmission started malfunctioning at about 23,600 miles. Seemed unable to shift into higher gears and made strange noise. No warning lamps, signs, or malfunction codes appeared. Dealer confirmed bearing noise from transmission and said new transmission needed. New transmission installed 10/11/24 under warranty.

Owner report 11753488 · 2026-07-29 (July 29, 2026)

I am reporting a critical Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve failure on my 2023 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid. The failure resulted in an immediate loss of engine power, reduced vehicle performance, reduced fuel efficiency, and the vehicle entering limp mode while driving, creating a significant safety hazard in traffic. Diagnostic & Technical Details: Error Codes Captured: Diagnostic trouble codes in the P0400 series (EGR system flow/circuit malfunction) were confirmed during diagnostic inspection. Root Cause: The component failure is directly l…

Owner report 11622083 · 2024-10-26 (October 26, 2024)

While traveling out of town, our 2023 Tuscon HEV with 31,000k started chugging/hesitating during acceleration. This chugging continued to worsen, so we took it to a Hyundai dealership to diagnose. We were told that fuel injector #3 was misfiring, and, as they did not have the parts in stock, that it would be safe to make the 5 hour drive back home to service the vehicle. During the first 4 hours of the drive the chugging/hesitating worsened, several times suddenly losing power and speed dropping from 70 or so mpg, to 40 mpg and lower, creatin…
