Driving in my newer GM Yukon Ultimate at 13k miles on the freeway. Vehicle with no warning shuts down while going 60mph in the middle lane. Was able to safely steer the car to the side of the road to avoid a collision. Vehicle lost all electrical contact. could not shift into neutral to tow. Turns out vehicle engine had to be replaced. GM approved a new engine replacement and are planning to return the vehicle back to put on the road. The vehicle is unsafe, at 5k miles, 6 months prior, the vehicle had to have the steering system replaced due…

On [XXX] while on vacation out of state with my family our 2023 GMC Yukon XL Denali stalled out on [XXX]. After safely navigating through 5 o'clock traffic just outside of Atlanta, the vehicle would not turn over or even attempt to start back up. We contacted onstar for assistance and was advised to stay with the vehicle while they dispatched a tow truck. After approximately 2 hours we contacted onstar again and was advised a tow truck wouldn't be available until morning. We then were able to obtain a ride with Lyft that totaled over $100 with …

Owner report 11639765 · 2025-01-30 (January 30, 2025)
The engine completely failed without warning. The vehicle stalled and would not restart. I was unable to put the Yukon in neutral in order to move it out of the way of traffic. As I was in the process of turning I was completely blocking oncoming traffic. When the vehicle was finally towed to the dealership they told me that there was no oil in the engine. I had checked the oil 2 days prior and the dipstick showed full. We had no leaks in the driveway and no low oil indicator came on to warn us. A dealership in Holland Michigan had just looked …

Owner report 11518181 · 2023-04-21 (April 21, 2023)
I recently purchased my vehicle and after already transporting my family of 5, including my newborn child for several days, I noticed that my parking sensors were not working and I began receiving a message of my dash that parking assist, rear braking and auto park assist were unavailable. I reached out to GM around 4/4 informing them of the issue and they said they didn't have any recalls or retrofits for my vehicle and advised me to take it to a dealer's service deparment to be reviewed. After having an issue with Simpson GMC of Buena Park of…

Owner report 11564278 · 2024-01-08 (January 8, 2024)
When driving in a parking lot, due to the design of the cruise control set switch, it is very easy to unintentionally set the adaptive cruise control. Specifically, when maneuvering in a parking lot at low speeds (below 5mph) and allowing the wheel to return to center by spinning in your hands, the cruise control switch which is a dial/lever that sticks out beyond the surface of the wheel, catches on your hand and engages the cruise. This sets the cruise control target speed to a 15 MPH even if you are currently going slower than that. The vehi…

Engine shut off at freeway speeds (65mph) on 2 occasions. Driver was able to coast over to side of freeway both times. On 1st occasion CHP protected vehicle from other traffic on i-5 with safety lights and traffic control. On second occasion, tow truck came quickly and kids were evacuated to prevent heat stroke in 113 degree weather. The first incident was “repaired” with a new starter and battery fuse block at 21720mi, but only lasted to 21814mi before same event occurred. No warning of failure before or after incident, just a dead engine. Sec…

Owner report 11714316 · 2026-01-29 (January 29, 2026)
The vehicle was running perfectly fine. We pulled into a service station to fill up the gas tank, and suddenly it wouldn’t start at all. We had no choice but to have it towed to McKenzie GMC in Milton, Florida. After several days of waiting, we were told we now “need another engine.” Yes, another engine. This is completely unacceptable. This same vehicle already had its engine replaced in 2025 under recall 25V274000. It passed the PICO test, and the oil was changed to the updated 0W‑40 viscosity exactly as required. There is absolutely no reaso…
