CONSUMER STATED WHILE BRAKING AT SLOW SPEEDS THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD. *JB AT SLOW SPEEDS (UNDER 10 MPH) THE VEHICLE'S ABS MAKES A WHINNING NOISE AND THE BRAKE PEDAL CRUNCHED TOWARDS THE FLOOR BOARD. THE VEHICLE LUNGES FORWARD AND DOESN'T STOP AT SLOW SPEEDS. THE MECHANIC NOTED THAT THE ENTIRE ABS SYSTEM LOOKED CORRODED. 1999 CHEVY TAHOE ABS FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR CORROSION CHEVROLET/GMC HAS INDICATED THAT THE 1999 CHEVY TAHOE THAT I OWN IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE PREVIOUSLY ANNOUNCED SAFETY RECALL 05068. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER WHO INDICATED THE FOLLOWING: "...FOUND THE WHEEL SPEED SENSORS WITH RUST CORROSION, CAUSING UNWANTED ABS ACTIVATION AND INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCES DURING LOW SPEED BRAKE APPLICATIONS. 1999 CHEVY TAHOE HAS ALWAYS HAD TRANSMISSION NOISE AND THUMPING. NOW WONT GO INTO REVERSE AT 80K MILES. CHAT LINES INDICATE SHELL/GEAR PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL TRANSMISSION. THIS IS A COMMON KNOWN PROBLEM TO GM YET NO RECALL OR ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIR COSTS. PROBLEM IS KNOWN TO GM AS SHELL/GEAR WAS IMPROVED IN 2002. THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED IN MODELS WITH LESS THAN 100K AT GM EXPENSE. COSTS ABOUT 2500$ TO CONSUMER FOR REPAIRS. *TR
