I STARTED MY GMC ENVOY SO THAT IT MAY WARM UP. AS IT WAS WARMING UP I STARTED TO SMELL SMOKE. I HIT THE ONSTAR BUTTON AND WAS SPEAKING TO THE CUSTOMER REP WHEN THE SMOKE GOT HEAVY AND SPARKS CAME FROM THE DRIVERS DOOR PANEL. I IMMEDIATELY BACK THE CAR OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY BECAUSE I DID NOT WANT MY HOUSE TO BURN IN CASE THE CAR WENT UP IN FLAMES. THE ONSTAR REP CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WHO CAME AND RIPPED APART THE DOOR PANEL, DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY AND PULLED OUT A BURNED WINDOW HARNESS UNIT. ENGINE STALLED WHILE DRIVING DOWN AN INCLINE WITHOUT ANY INDICATION UNTIL APPLYING THE BRAKES TO FIND THE POWER BRAKES HAD BEEN LOST. WEATHER CONDITIONS WERE SLICK AND THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SPIN AND COULD NOT BE CORRECTED DUE TO LOSS OF POWER STEERING. VEHICLE COULD NOT BE SLOWED USING THE LOWER ENGINE GEARS. ONCE THE VEHICLE COASTED TO A STOP, THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. THE VEHICLE WAS PUT IN PARK, TURNED THE KEY TO THE ENGINE-OFF POSITION AND THEN ON. ONSTAR DIAGNOSTICS DID NOT DETECT ANY PROBLEMS IN SYSTEM TESTS. FUEL LEVEL WAS APPROX…

I TOTALED MY 2004 GMC ENVOY ON BLACK ICE, I HIT MY NEIGHBOR PRETTY MUCH HEAD ON. MY AIR BAG DID NOT GO OFF NOR DID MY SEAT BELT HOLD MY IN PLACE, I REPORTED THIS ACCIDENT AND DYSFUNCTION TO GM AND AFTER THEIR INVESTIGATION THEY SAID THE VEHICLE FUNCTIONED PROPERLY. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THIS COULD BE, WE BOUGHT THE ENVOY NEW THE AIR BAG SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED AS WELL AS THE SEAT BELT SHOULD HAVE LOCKED ME IN PLACE, AS IT WAS I HIT THE WIND SHIELD, HAD SWELLING IN MY BRAIN, I ALSO HIT THE TOP OF THE ENVOY AND CAME DOWN AND HAVE TWO CRUSHED VERT…
