Owner report 11399514 · 2021-03-06 (March 6, 2021)
PURCHASED BRAND NEW AND WITHIN 1,000 MILES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHILE DRIVING. TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY DETERMINED IT WAS DUE TO DEFECTIVE FUEL INJECTOR SYSTEM. BACKORDER ON PARTS, SO THE CARE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR AS LONG AS WE HAVE OWNED IT. WONDER IF SIMILAR ISSUE TO THAT WHICH LED TO RECALL OF THE 2021 G70?

Owner report 11577131 · 2024-03-13 (March 13, 2024)
On two occasions in the last month the car has suffered a loss of power with the accelerator unresponsive to input. After 5-10 seconds of this still actively occurring the car began to shake violently while I was trying to find a safe place to stop the car out of the traffic lanes. Within a minute or so things would go back to normal. The first time I was in a 35mph zone so the car was relatively controllable but unable to keep at speed. The second time was on the interstate at 70mph in heavy traffic. The car reacted much more dangerously at th…

Owner report 11517866 · 2023-04-19 (April 19, 2023)
The contact's mother owned a 2021 Genesis GV80. The contact stated that while her mother was driving into a parking space at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed but the vehicle experienced unintended acceleration. The vehicle drove over a field and into oncoming traffic before crashing into another vehicle. No warning light was illuminated. Only the front driver's side air bag was deployed. A police report was filed. The contact's mother later received medical attention for injuries sustained to her ribs, left shoulder, and neck…

The brakes failed at about 25mph. My car collided into the car in front of me. After several attempts to pump the brakes they never re-engaged to stop the vehicle.

Owner report 11544326 · 2023-09-13 (September 13, 2023)
I bought my 2021 GV80 used with 15,500 miles. After driving not even 100 miles, we experienced the vehicle stalling and having no power. Giving it gas, the RPM's would not rise and the engine then shut off. The engine light briefly turned on but did not stay on. After the car shut down and turned back on, we kept driving. We took the vehicle immediately to the dealer where they proceeded to tell us there is nothing wrong because the diagnostics came back fine. But now this exact same thing has happened on 7 different occasions after driving…

Owner report 11577476 · 2024-03-14 (March 14, 2024)
Safety Issues: • Battery runs out of charge within one day without any rational reason (i.e., no lights, no alarm, no equipment in use) which put me at risk since the car would stop at any time without any warning. • Then, the Genesis Connected Services will sent alert messages every three (3) minutes for minor events (e.g., washer fluid low, window open, door unlocked…). Those same two problems were reproduced at HYUNDAI RICK CASE DAVIE FL – Official Agent even after two GENESIS FIELD SERVICE ENGINEERS changed the following parts (between M…

Owner report 11603574 · 2024-07-20 (July 20, 2024)
The car is not accelerating or needs hard acceleration to move. It is also losing power intermittently. The car can not accelerate to pass a vehicle. The transmission is behaving erraticly. Causing severe back pain accelerating the car in normal city driving. The RPMs exceed 4000 reaching a speed of 45 miles an hour making the car engine very noisy.

Owner report 11652698 · 2025-04-04 (April 4, 2025)
While driving down the interstate the rear brakes locked up. Was not able to accelerate over 65 mph. Originally thought it was a transmission issue until I was able to pull over smelled burning rubber and saw smoke coming from the rear brakes and the rotors completely gouged. The dealership originally indicated it is a safety issue and would have to call in an engineer but then stated that they are not able to duplicate the issue so I will have to pay for the repair out-of-pocket and will return the vehicle to me. Told them I do not feel s…

Component Affected: Electrical / Interior Cabin Comfort / HVAC SystemsDescription of Defect:I am reporting an active thermal defect in the dashboard footprint of my 2021 Genesis GV80 AWD 3.5T. Following a 35-to-40-minute dynamic road test under engine load, severe heat migrates directly from the engine compartment into the passenger cabin. The instrument cluster panel and surrounding dashboard structures reach an extreme, verified temperature of 110°F, while the adjacent passenger vents measure standard cooling at 80°F.This severe cabin heat so…

Owner report 11555267 · 2023-11-15 (November 15, 2023)
In 2 instances power steering doesn’t work and brakes go to the floor (it will stop, but very slowly). I believe pretty much every error code displays when this happens. Here’s some error codes: C165C87, C162387, C164286, C168787, U012300, C17024A, C174281. In addition, the back windshield cleaner sprays till it empties.
