On November 12, 2022 at approximately 1:00 p.m. an incident occurred with my 2022 Ford Escape Hybrid in Columbia, MO. As I was parking in the Forum Theater parking lot, the engine surged and I had no brakes. I was at a dead stop and when I released the brake to move into a parking slot, the engine surged abruptly. When I applied the brakes, the pedal went clear to the floor with no braking occurring. I absolutely did not hit the wrong peddle causing this surging of power. Since purchase, the car has made a loud squealing noise when applying brakes in reverse. Seems to take longer to come to a stop at times when applying brakes but other times jerks to a stop.

Check manual light with orange wrench popped up. I checked my Ford Pass app and it said there was a high voltage fault. To contact a dealer immediately. But I can't even put it in neutral for a tow truck because the transmission is locked in some sort of safe mode. I think it is a part of the recall with high voltage battery failures.

The right rear brake area screeches loudly when I back up, even if I am not applying the brake. It happens at different times of the day, not just when I start the car. I have taken it in to be repaired twice and they tell me this is normal because the brakes charge the battery and this is the design. They said it happens when the brakes are wet in the morning. The vehicle was being flat towed which had been set to Neutral tow position, per Ford’s published procedure. After driving 5-7 miles from Old Orchard Beach, ME to Foxboro, MA we stopped at a stoplight. We turned right after coming to a complete stop. The front wheels locked up. The contact stated that while her husband was driving 65 MPH uphill, another vehicle attempting to make a left turn in front of the vehicle crashed into the vehicle.
