I have a 2020 Ford Edge SEL and out of nowhere on 09-08-2023 smoke was pouring out of the exhaust and the car was misfiring. I looked further into it and it seemed to be the coolant was leaking down into the cylinder and causing it to burn through the exhaust making it very difficult to breathe. I sat in the car at a drive through for a couple minutes and it was unbearable to breathe. The car is stalling out while accelerating and could be very dangerous depending on where it stalls.

Waiting in line at drive through and had my foot on the brake and my car surged forward hitting the car in front of me and they hit the car in front of them. I found no recall on my 2020 Edge titanium but this surge has happened before.

Have had issues from day one. The contact owns a 2020 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving approximately 5 MPH and attempting to leave a parking lot, the vehicle made an abnormal sound and the engine shut off unexpectedly. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not drivable and was towed to a dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed; however, the contact was informed that the battery box had melted. The dealer was awaiting a diagnostic test. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 68,858.

Forward collision warning stopped working which in turn caused the cruise control to not work. Then the PSCM (power steering control module) just went out all at once. Was driving and it showed warning on the dash. I drove on and parked. When I went to start back, it started fine but couldn’t move steering wheel. I’m seeing this has been a problem with other owners and the same year model. Ford has done a recall on edge for years around 2020 but not that particular year. Husband was driving us home. Vehicle lost power, car started slowing down. Had to pull over to side of road. Car would restart but continued to die and would not change gears. 3 occurred for several hours. Got car towed to dealer ship. The next day car started ok. This could have caused an accident and could have killed somebody. Car is currently at dealership. Have not been told what is wrong at this time. Only have towing paper work at this time. Just received a call they says it’s the fuel pump.

In February 2025 a dash light came on when the vehicle was studdering at 20-40 mph. Firestone said the code was a PRV, so they replaced it (approx $450), had 80k miles. Six months later it's doing the same thing and firestone said it has no codes and it could be alot of things but suspects maybe fuel pump or torque converter as they have seen it alot on the 2020 edge.
