Owner report 10000285 · 2002-12-19 (December 19, 2002)

100 MILES WEST OF PHOENIX AND TRAVELING AT 65 MPH, I SUDDENLY LOST ALL STEERING ASSIST. IF I HAD BEEN ON A CURVE, I WOULD HAVE GONE OFF THE ROAD OR INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. 29,000 LBS OF MOTORHOME CAN BE HANDLED WITHOUT POWER STEERING IF YOU HAVE PLENTY OF MUSCLE AND ARE READY FOR IT. I ALSO DISCOVERED THAT THE RADIATOR COOLING FANS WERE INOPERATIVE. COACH NET HAD ME TOWED TO A SHOP IN PHOENIX WHERE IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE HYDRAULIC PUMP SPLINES THAT ENGAGE THE POWER TAKE-OFF WERE DISINTEGRATED. I CALLED GILLIG AND THEY SAID THAT A FEW OF THE…

A RECALL NOTICE WAS RECEIVED IN JULY FOR THE STEERING GEAR BOX. AFTER MAKING A CALL TO THE SERVICE CENTER AND GETTING A DATE FOR THE REPAIR AND TAKING IT IN AUGUST, IT WAS DISCOVERED THE PARTS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL SEPTEMBER. *JB

Owner report 10149094 · 2006-01-31 (January 31, 2006)

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED WITHOUT WARNING ON BOTH THE PASSENGER AND DRIVERS SIDE FROM TOP TO BOTTOM. THE WINDSHIELD HAS BEEN REPLACED ONCE BY THE MANUFACTURER, TWICE BY THE LOCAL DEALER AND TWICE BY INDEPENDENT GLASS DEALERS. THE MANUFACTURER DETERMINED THE FAILURE IS CAUSED BY STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY. ONCE THE WINDSHIELD IS REPLACED IT SOON FAILS AGAIN BECAUSE THERE IS NOT ENOUGH SUPPORT IN THE STRUCTURE OF VEHICLE. UPDATED 2/24/2006 - THE VEHICLE FRONT END HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THE MANUFACTURER FAILED TO ASSEMBLE A…

Owner report 10233755 · 2008-07-10 (July 10, 2008)

FAILURE OF THE TRANSMISSION DRIVEN POWER TAKE OFF (PTO) AND HYDRAULIC PUMP WHICH RUNS THE COOLING FAN. THE MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE PTO AND PUMP INDICATED THE PTO SHAFT SPLINES FAILED DUE TO LACK OF LUBRICATION AND CAUSED THE HYDRAULIC PUMP FAILURE. IN TALKING TO THE MECHANICS AT COUNTRY COACH I LEARNED THAT OTHER 05 INTRIGUES HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM AND THAT IT SOMETIMES OCCURS A SECOND TIME. THE FAILURE CAUSED THE COOLING FAN TO STOP WHICH RESULTED IN THE ENGINE OVERHEATING AND A UNSCHEDULED ROADSIDE STOP. ADDITIONAL OPERATION WOULD HAVE R…

Owner report 10274709 · 2009-06-23 (June 23, 2009)

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 COUNTRY COACH INTRIGUE RV. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER TAKE OFF (PTO), WHICH IS MOUNTED ON THE TRANSMISSION, HAS FAILED. THE PTO RUNS THE FAN AND COOLS THE ENGINE, POWER STEERING, AND OTHER ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT IN THE RV. WHEN ANOTHER COMPONENT OF THE PTO (KNOWN AS A 'SPINE') MALFUNCTIONS, THE ENGINE LOSES POWER AND SHUTS OFF. THIS ALSO CAUSES THE POWER STEERING AND OTHER ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS TO FAIL. THE CONTACT HAD TO PURCHASE A 'WET KIT' FOR $6,000 IN ORDER TO PREVENT THIS FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE …
