TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 COACHMEN SPORTSCOACH RV. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH ON A MOUNTAINOUS ROAD, THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. THE ENGINE RESTARTED AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON THE THIRD OCCURRENCE WHERE THE TECHNICIAN INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE WIRES WERE DISCONNECTED. The contact owns a 2021 Coachman Sportscoach. The contact stated that while driving an abnormal noise was heard coming from the rear wheels. The selling dealer was contacted and stated that the issue was a Freightliner issue. The vehicle was taken to a Freightliner dealer that did not diagnose the failure. This incident happened to a 2024 Coachmen Sportscoach SRS339DS (also called model S1A339DS) motor home (RV) built on a Freightliner XCS chassis. Under the specific circumstances surrounding the actual component failure incident, no safety hazard existed--but under different circumstances, failure of the same component could result in a safety hazard with potentially catastrophic consequences. The contact owns a 2022 Coachmen Sportscoach 354QS built on the chassis of a 2023 Freightliner XC-S motorhome chassis. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was play in the steering wheel. Upon inspection of the steering wheel shaft, the contact discovered the bolt had mild rust and was loose on the end. The vehicle was not diagnosed by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact tightened the loose bolt. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 14,101.
