Component - Integrated Trailer Brake Controller Safety - caused a vehicle skid and loss of control Inspection - it is scheduled to go in to the dealer today Warnings - the dash messages "Trailer Brakes Connected" and "Trailers Brakes Disconnected" displays often when a trailer is connected, as frequently as several times per minute. I believe that NHTSA and GM are aware of issues with the trailer brake connector on these vehicles. The integrated trailer brake controller connects and disconnects the trailer brakes as often as several times per…

Connecting this trailer to a new 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD, the trailer brakes cut in and out every minute or so. The truck shows a warning that the trailer brakes are disconnected, and then they reconnected. This happens repeatedly. General Motors and Forest River have been advised of this, but neither have a solution. Forest River does not want to engage with me (as consumer). GM is still working with me to trouble shoot. Theory is that the solar charging on the trailer is causing the issue with the GM vehicle. Truck (not the tr…

Owner report 11620131 · 2024-10-16 (October 16, 2024)

Transmission failure on interstate i90, truck down shifted violently and check engine light came on and warning on dash read speed reduced drive with caution. Took truck to gm dealer on August 1 2024 who said the transmission shift solenoid plate has to be replaced. Gm dealer still has my truck as of October 16 2024 and all I they can tell me is that the part is on back order and they have no idea when it will be available. This could have caused a serious accident as I was also towing a 3500 lb trailer at 65mpg at the time with the speed being…

Owner report 11532550 · 2023-07-16 (July 16, 2023)

While towing my fifth wheel trailer, the electric trailer brakes module shuts off with a message "check trailer wiring". When the module shuts off, the trailer brakes do not actuate relying fully on the truck to stop as the trailer brakes will not work. The plug was firmly seated and it caused issues whether using the in bed plug or the bumper plug. After some time, the message would go away and the system would display the message "trailer connected" and the trailer brakes would work again. After some time, the process would repeat several t…

Owner report 11534909 · 2023-07-27 (July 27, 2023)

Brand new truck, 1st time towing through mountains of Kentucky, we kept getting "check trailer wiring", "trailer brakes disconnected" "service trailer brakes" I did research and took the truck in for service. They found nothing wrong, but said we should get an adapter and gave me the name of two. We had the camper checked as well, no issues. Many complaining on blogs about this issue and many have also been told to get an adapter. Really? why would I need a $200 adapter and the fact they already knew which two I should buy, tells me, they…

Owner report 11570573 · 2024-02-07 (February 7, 2024)

Truck sends safety lights on dash one day and the next day they go off. Truck is running rough and has subpar fuel mileage driving 55 to 65 miles per hour. Esc light comes on and steering wheel changes sides to drive straight. Information screen goes black and flashes while driving. I have been in contact with gmc and they said I have to report to you before they will do anything. There was a recall for my type of Truck for poor fuel consumption but my vin was not included. I feel my truck has fell through the cracks and is in need of …

Charging system failed The system failed with no warning, we were traveling on a country curvy road and about to descend a grade. With the charging system failure, the truck lost power to brakes and steering. It's at the dealer, being inspected etc. No warning lights or message until the failure occured, then a battery light appeared and a charging system failed message.

Owner report 11558140 · 2023-12-02 (December 2, 2023)

On July 1st, 2023, I purchased a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 from Orielly Chevrolet in Tucson, Arizona. On July 2nd, 2023, an error message popped up on the dash, “Park Assist Blocked See Owner’s Manual”. It continued to happen on and off til this very day. The dealership "attempted" to fix the issue, but it obviously hasn't been resolved. Due to equipment being faulty, the chances of an accident whilst back up are significantly increased. At one point on this ordeal, the truck was in the shop for 61 days. It had been in my possession for 18 …

Complete engine and emission fail while driving. Complete loss of power. Created a serious safety issue while driving due to other traffic and inability to move vehicle from road side to safe area. Problem was confirmed by mechanic. Contact to GMC resulted in no response. Mechanic has reported numerous other GMC trucks with the same issue. Check engine light came on shortly before and then went off again. Contact was made with dealer as well as GMC directly regarding the issue.

Owner report 11682545 · 2025-08-23 (August 23, 2025)

The fuel pump inside the tank shorted out and left us stranded. This is the same pump that was used on the the 2022 Duramax systems however they upped the fuel pressure on the 2024 refresh and it has become a known problem of shorting out.
