Owner report 10359237 · 2010-10-05 (October 5, 2010)
"ENGINE FAILURE" SIGN COMES ON MY 2007 BMW 335XI AND THE ENGINE POWER SIGNIFICANTLY CUTS OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME AT LEAST 3 TIMES. THE 1ST AND 2ND TIME IT HAPPENED TO ME, I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND SUDDENLY, THE SIGN COMES ON AND I LOST SIGNIFICANT ENGINE POWER, HAD TO SLOW DOWN AND MOVE OVER TO THE RIGHT LANES, AS I HAD TO DROP MY SPEED IMMEDIATELY FROM 70MPH TO 55 OR LOWER. THEN I PULLED OVER, TURNED OFF THE CAR AND RESTARTED THE CAR. SOMETIMES THAT WORKED AND MY ENGINE GOT FULL POWER, SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T AND I HAVE TO DRIVE W…

Fuel injectors and high pressure fuel pump. I believe there was a recall for the 335i model not the 335xi. These are the same exact engines and were produced at the same exact time with the same exact parts. BMW created index 1 injectors and has since remanufactured to what today is now called an index 12 injector. I believe my model is well over due to qualify for this recall because old injectors can cause a fire WHILE DRIVING. Fuel leaks around electrical spark plugs and bmw knows this but they only recalled for the RWD model which is ridicu…

Owner report 10280030 · 2009-08-10 (August 10, 2009)
I FEEL THIS SITUATION WARRANTS YOUR IMMEDIATE REVIEW FOR A POSSIBLE FORCED RECALL. MY 2008 BMW 335XI BEGAN HAVING SPORADIC PROBLEMS IN SEPTEMBER 2009. BECAUSE OF MY DISTANCE TO A DEALERSHIP AND LONG TIME BETWEEN PROBLEMS I DID NOT TAKE THE CAR TO A DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY. BY DECEMBER THE PROBLEMS BECAME MORE SEVERE AND FREQUENT. THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WOULD BECOME ILLUMINATED, THE ENGINE WOULD HAVE SUBSTANTIALLY LOWER POWER AND THE CAR WOULD STALL WITHOUT WARNING. I HAD FIRST TAKEN THE CAR TO A BMW DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR ON JAN 2, 2009 …

Owner report 10353029 · 2010-08-31 (August 31, 2010)
BMW N54 ENGINE 1. SYMPTOMS BEGIN WITH INCREASING LONG-CRANKS ON START-UP. EVENTUALLY THE ENGINE PERFORMS AT REDUCED POWER, AND ULTIMATELY TOTAL LOSS OF POWER. 2. I AM ON MY 3RD HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP (HPFP) WITH APPROXIMATELY 25,000 MILES ON THE CAR IN 2 YEARS AND 2 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP. APPARENTLY THE REPLACEMENT OF THE HPFP FREQUENTLY LEADS TO A PROBLEM WITH THE SPARK PLUGS, AND COILS WHICH CAUSE SEVERE MIS-FIRING AND VIOLENT SHAKING. MY COILS WERE REPLACED AS WAS A CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND AN O2 SENSOR IN BETWEEN HPFP #1 AND #2. …

BMW SAID THEY REPLACED AND FIXED THE AIR BAG ISSUE AND BATTERY CABLE (POSITIVE) RECALL. IT'S BEEN OVER 2 WEEKS AND I JUST SEARCHED ON SAFERCAR.GOV AND THEY BOTH STILL SHOW AS OPEN ISSUES. DID BMW LIE?

I HAVE A 2008 BMW 335XI. IT HAS A SERIOUS TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. WHEN I AM AT THE RED LIGHT WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE IT FEELS LIKE SOMEONE HIT ME FROM BEHIND! SO HARD I LOOK IN MY REAR VIEW MIRROR TO SEE THE CAR THAT HIT ME AND GET OUT TO GET THEIR INSURANCE INFO. BMW WILL NOT FIX IT SAYING THAT THE TECH CANT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM! IF MY KIDS OR YOUR OR SOME DRIVER WITH NOT ALOT OF EXPERIENCE WOULD HAVE THIS HAPPEN TO THEM I ASSURE YOU THEY COULD PANIC AND HIT THE GAS AND END UP IN THE INTERSECTION AND GET KILLED!!! SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE BEF…

Owner report 10315094 · 2010-03-01 (March 1, 2010)
THE BRAKE SYSTEM SEEMS TO HAVE LOST ITS THREE PRESS BOOST. AFTER ABOUT 2 YEARS, UPON STARTING THE CAR (2008 BMW 335XI AUTO) THE PRESS ON THE BRAKE IS STIFF. IT IS STIFF BECAUSEIT SEEMS TO HAVE LOSS THE 3 PRESS BOOST. THE BOOST THAT IS SUPPOSED TO PROTECT THE DRIVER IN CASE OF ENGINE FAILURE. NO OTHER CARE I HAVE OWNED LEAKS OUT ITS BOOST OVERNIGHT. BMW ADMITTED THAT THE BRAKE CHECK VALVE WAS BAD AND REPLACED IT WITH A NEWLY DESIGNED PART. I ASKED WHAT THIS NEW DESIGN WAS AND THEY COULD NOT TELL ME. I READ ONLINE THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS I…

2007 BMW 335XI FLOOR MATS ARE NOT ANCHORED OR ATTACHED TO FLOOR IN ANY WAY. FLOOR MATS CONSTANTLY SLIDE BACK AND FORTH, AS THEY ARE SMOOTH ON THE BOTTOMS. THE DRIVERS SIDE MAT WILL OFTEN CAUSE CLUTCH PEDAL NOT TO RELEASE WHEN SHIFTING, AS THE MAT OBSTRUCTS THE PEDAL FROM RELEASING. THIS ISSUE WAS REPORTED TO LOCAL DEALERSHIPS AND I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THAT WOULD BE DONE. *TR

MY 2010 BMW 335XI (3,500 MILES) SUDDENLY STALLED ON WA HIGHWAY 520, ON THE LAKE WASHINGTON BRIDGE IN THE MIDDLE OF RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC DUE TO HPFP FAILURE. THERE WAS A MALFUNCTION WARNING ON THE NAV DISPLAY, STATING THAT ONLY LIMITED ENGINE POWER WAS AVAILABLE, WHEN TWO SECONDS LATER THE ENGINE STALLED, LOSING POWER STEERING AND BRAKES AS WELL. I WAS GOING APPROX. 25 MPH IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ENTERING THE BRIDGE THAT HAS NO SHOULDER. I WAS BLOCKING ONE OF TWO EASTBOUND LANES AND POSED A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY RISK. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE ENGINE AND GO …

THE ENGINE RANDOMLY SHUTS DOWN. THIS IS ACCOMPANIED BY LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND REDUCED BRAKING ABILITY. THIS INCIDENT HAS OCCURRED THREE TIMES. THE CAR HAS PROVIDED NO WARNING OR INDICATOR LIGHTS. BMW SERVICE WAS MADE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. THEIR RESPONSE WAS THAT THEY FAILED TO REPRODUCE IT. THEY ALSO FAILED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM, THE LAST INCIDENT OCCURRED AFTER A SERVICE ON THE CAR. *TR
