LITHIUM ION BATTERY CHARGING SYSTEM POWER CORD OVERHEATED CAUSING PLUG TO MELT. POWER CORD IS RATED AT 120VAC AND 15 AMPS BUT CURRENT DRAW WAS ~20 AMPS. VEHICLE IS AN ELECTRIC SCOOTER MANUFACTURED BY Z ELECTRIC VEHICLES AND THE CHARGING SYSTEM IS A VENDOR SUPPLIED PORTABLE CHARGER. SCOOTER WAS PARKED OUTDOORS IN DRY CONDITIONS AT THE TIME. A PORTABLE AMMETER WAS CLAMPED OVER THE MAINS POWER CORD AND SHOWED CURRENT FLUCTUATING FROM 18-23 AMPS. TEMPERATURES ON THE POWER CORD PLUG WERE REMOTELY MEASURED AT APPROXIMATELY 180 F BEFORE POWER WAS REMO…
