UNABLE TO RESTART ENGINE, STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE, SMALL AMOUNT OF GASOLINE COMING FROM BOTTOM OF VENT TUBE. GENERALLY OCCURS WHEN ENGINE IS VERY HOT. 3. The contact owns a 2007 Yamaha XV1700. The contact stated that after riding the motorcycle and then parking the motorcycle, fuel inadvertently sprayed out of the air breather onto the engine. The contact stated that the failure occurred several times. The local dealer inspected the motorcycle but was unable to duplicate the failure. The mechanic noticed that there was a fuel leak and performed a repair on the piston cylinder and fuel pump to fix the motorcycle however, the failure persisted. The motorcycle was not repaired.
