Owner report 10991592 · 2017-05-25 (May 25, 2017)
VEHICLE INTERMITTANTLY WILL NOT IDLE, STALLS OUT WHEN DECELERATING TO A STOP, WHEN IN BETWEEN GEARS, WHEN RESTARTED, WILL IDLE BELOW 700 RPM AND STALLS REPEATEDLY. AT OTHER TIMES, IT WILL IDLE AT 3000 RPMS, SOMETIMES BACK FIRING, WHEN CLUTCH IS PULLED IN THE RPMS WILL DROP BUT MOST TIMES, IT'S A ROUGH IDLE, BOUNCING BETWEEN 700 AND 1300 RPM'S. WHEN IT IS COLD, IT OFTEN IDLES FINE UNTIL IT GETS WARM... THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM SINCE NEW. IT HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO THE DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM...

INTERMITTENTLAY THE VEHICLE STALLS WHEN IDLING, IT ALSO CAN RISE TO 3500RPM WITHOUT ANY USER INPUT. THIS LEADS TO DANGEROUS BEHAVIOR WHEN APPROACHING OR DEPARTING AN INTERSECTION.

Owner report 11487542 · 2022-10-02 (October 2, 2022)
The ABS module on the Super Tenere is known to fail in such a way as to leave the rear brake inoperable (the brake pedal can be bottomed out without any resistance and without applying any pressure to the rear caliper). This happened on my 2012 Super Tenere, and has been discussed considerably among multiple other Super Tenere owners who have experienced the same failure. This is a significant safety risk, as any ABS module failure should fail in such a way as to leave both front and rear brake operable. It is believed amongst Super Tenere…

Owner report 11015960 · 2017-08-17 (August 17, 2017)
2013 YAMAHA SUPER TENERE. ENGINE/IDLE SPEED VARIES AND/OR ENGINE DIES. SOMETIMES IT SPEEDS UP (TO AS MUCH AS 4000 RPM) WITHOUT ANY RIDER INPUT (DANGEROUS) AND IF THE CLUTCH IS ACTIVATED SIMULTANEOUSLY IT WON'T IDLE AND ENGINE DIES. ALSO DIFFICULTY STARTING. SEEMS TO HAPPEN MORE OFTEN IN COOLER TEMPERATURES VS WARM. TURNING OFF THE IGNITION THEN TURNING IT BACK ON SOMETIMES TEMPORALLY SEEMS TO RESET THINGS (MAY TAKE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS). IT WILL RUN AT CRUISE SPEEDS BUT ONCE SPEED IS REDUCED THE PROBLEMS OCCUR. A FAULT CODE OF 60 ONCE CAME UP ON…
