CONSUMER WAS SHIFTING THE GEARS AND NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE REAR. THIS CAUSED THE MOTORCYCLE TO STALL. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE MOTORCYCLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT GEAR SHIFT PATTERN INDICATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK

ON JANUARY 9, 2004 CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION. DEALERSHIP STILL DID NOT HAVE THE PARTS AVAILABLE TO CONDUCT RECALL REPAIRS. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND INDICATED THAT THE CONSUMER SHOULD WAIT UNTIL MAY 2004. *AK *NM
