I WAS DRIVING THE MOTORCYCLE ON A 4 LANE DIVIDED HIGHWAY IN THE INSIDE LANE, WHEN (AT ABOUT 55 MPH) I SHIFTED INTO 5TH GEAR AND HEARD A "CLUNK" SOUND IN THE TRANSMISSION, AND THE REAR WHEEL SUDDENLY LOCKED UP AND THE BIKE WENT INTO A SKID (THERE WAS A LOT OF TRAFFIC BEHIND ME, AS WE HAD JUST LEFT A HEAVILY POPULATED SIGNAL ON THE ROADWAY AND MY RIDING PARTNER (MY WIFE) WAS IN FRONT OF ME). SINCE THERE WAS A LOT OF TRAFFIC BEHIND ME, I TRIED TO CONTROL THE SKID AS LONG AS POSSIBLE AND STEER INTO THE GRASSY MEDIAN TO AVOID BEING RUN OVER BY VEHI…

CONSUMER WAS SHIFTING THE GEARS AND NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE REAR. THIS CAUSED THE MOTORCYCLE TO STALL. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE MOTORCYCLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT GEAR SHIFT PATTERN INDICATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK

FUEL TANK ON A FIVE YEAR OLD MOTORCYCLE HAS RUSTED THROUGH AND MULTIPLE PIN HOLES HAVE FORMED. GAS LEAKED ON HOT MOTOR CREATING SAFETY ISSUE. MANUFACTURER WILL NOT FIX OR REPLACE TANK. PER MANUFACTURER THERE IS NO COATING ON THE INSIDE OF THE FUEL TANK TO PROTECT THE BARE METAL FROM RUSTING. MOTORCYCLE HAS BEEN GARAGE KEPT SINCE PURCHASED NEW IN 2003. *TR
