Reported: 1994-02-23 (February 23, 1994)

THE BRACKETS THAT ATTACH THE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY TO THE CAB STRUCTURE CRACKS AT THE "V" NOTCH IN THE BRACKET.

Consequence: FAILURE OF THE BRACKET MAY CAUSE THE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY TO FALL, WHICH MAY RESULT IN LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL AND AN ACCIDENT.

Remedy: VOLVO GM WILL REPLACE THE SUSPECT BRACKETS WITH A NEWLY DESIGNED BRACKET.

94V238000 · Electrical System:Wiring

Reported: 1994-12-01 (December 1, 1994)

THE MAIN ELECTRICAL POWER HARNESS WAS MISROUTED. IF THERE WAS AN ELECTRICAL SHORT IN THIS HARNESS, THE CIRCUIT WOULD NOT BE FUSE-PROTECTED.

Consequence: A SHORT IN A MISROUTED POWER HARNESS CAN CREATE A POTENTIAL FOR A VEHICLE FIRE.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REROUTE THE SUBJECT POWER HARNESS AND RECONNECT THE AFFECTED WIRES TO THE CORRECT FUSE-PROTECTED POWER JUNCTION.

98V255000 · Suspension:Front:Springs:Air Suspension:Lines And Fittings

Reported: 1998-10-14 (October 14, 1998)

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: CLASS 8 HEAVY DUTY TRUCKS. THE AIR SUSPENSION CONTROL VALVE SUPPLY LINE WAS NOT PLUMBED THROUGH AN AIR PRESSURE PROTECTION VALVE. IN THE EVENT OF A FAILURE, THERE WOULD BE LOSS OF AIR PRESSURE IN THE 'B' SYSTEM AIR RESERVOIR THAT SUPPLIES AIR PRESSURE FOR THE FRONT STEER AXLE BRAKES.

Consequence: THIS CONDITION WOULD RESULT IN INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCES.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL THE NECESSARY AIR PRESSURE PROTECTION VALVE.
